What? Meyer left an incredible amount of talent for him.
I love how the narrative changes on this website over the years.

From 2011... LINK

This gets posted over and over and over.

What offensive talent? Please tell me which of our units you would trade for ours.

WR - nope, because we don't have a single WR that gets open consistently.
RB - nope, we have a bunch of tiny track guys and and injured Mike Gilislee.
QB - nope, Brantley is oft injured and the backups are true FR
OL - They are terrible in the new scheme for the most part
TE - nope, we don't have a true TE at the moment.

So, where is this talent that many keep mentioning that fits the pro-style offense that Boom and Charlie want to run.

In the GA game we took all of ONE snap from under center because Brantley couldn't move. WTH do you expect. Even with that we had a chance to win the game.

Losing to LSU, Bama and Auburn (on the road) should not have surprised a single person with a brain. The UG loss is the only one that really should not have happened and even that is very debatable because overall they have the better team.

So, tell me about all our talent on offense.

The D is young and very thin with regard to depth. I won't even talk about them.

Oh, and we have 67 scholarship players. Yeah, Meyer left the cupboard full.

Meyer didn't get a great power RB during his tenure. He got one good TE. He got one great DE. He got Tebow and he got Percy. He crashed and burned at DT. He wanted speed and got it in a lot of cases.

Boom wants to run the pro-style and you need power not so much speed. The OL has sucked for two years. Is that coaching or recruiting?

You don't like Boom. That's fine. But if you can't see that we don't have the players for his system and Charlie's system then you are indeed blind. You don't want more than one or two of our starters. That's a fact. That's on both sides of the ball too.

From the last 2 recruiting classes alone (10-11) Florida has lost 7 offensive skill players to transfer. That is ridiculous.

2007 - Pretty strong class, a lot of key contributors, players left?

Brantley, Rainey, Thompson, Moses Jenkins, Jaye Howard - so that is 5 RS seniors. But the class was dynamite and helped Florida win a title in 2008, but all those key players are now in the NFL or graduated.

2008 - 6 of the defensive players in this class transferred or were booted. This is supposed to represent the leadership of the team, but most of the RS Jrs and Srs in this class barely play. Jeff Demps is the most key person from this class on the team. Omar Hunter never really panned out, and Green and Okine are role players. Janoris Jenkins was booted, Jeremy Brown has been injured most of his career, Will Hill bailed early.

Honestly, the most productive member of this class on defense is Lerentee McCray - a former DE that was headed nowhere until Muschamp got here. The WR's recruited in this class have been totally useless to this point as well.

2009 - Small, but elite class. 7 starters right now are Jr's or RS Sophs from this class. They haven't ever done anything great though. The headliners were Jelani Jenkins, Debose, gary Brown, and Nixon. Brown was booted and the other two never lived up to the hype. Jelani Jenkins is a legit All-sec type LB - but that's about it from this class. A lot of back ups and role players round out the class.

2010 - 3 starters on the defesnive front are playing as true sophomores. A number of DB's from this class are playing. Really, this was a great class, but the talent is really young and not much is backing it up from previous classes, and as before, no WR's have emerged.

Bottom line - UF had a ton of good classes, but through transfers, injuries, and busts, there wasn't much left by the time Florida took the field this year.

The WR's haven't been good since Harvin and Murphy left - UF may legitimately have the worst WR corp in the SEC, which I know doesn't make sense based on recruiting rankings, but by production, they have done NOTHING.

The OL looks fine for the future - but they were young and got owned a lot this year. The tackles were very weak. Nixon ended up being a bust at LT and Chaz Green is starting above a lot of older guys now at RT.

Rainey and Demps are good complimentary backs, but UF never found a physical back to complement them after Tebow left.

UF was never able to replace Aaron Hernandez at TE - and have had problems keeping them on the team since then. Reed should be good, but isn't a great blocker being a converted QB, but UF is bringing in some stud TE recruits for 2012.

Don't even get me started on QB...

The DL is young, and I imagine will be stronger next year, but again, light on depth because of all the misses at DT in the Urban Meyer era.

DE is the weakest I've seen at Florida in my lifetime.

The LB corp us underrated, and I think is stronger than we all think, but the DL gets blown up a lot so we don't see it. I think that will be a strength down the road, but depth and size is a huge issue for this defense.

The DB's are all young, but talented and I am happy about that unit moving forward, but without Brown this year, the most experienced guy worth a damn was a true sophomore. Not a good situation.

So yeah, this team was a disaster. More of a disaster than I could have predicted, and with the injuries, it's hard to blame muschamp for a lot of this.

That was his first year, everyone was probably a little more defensive.

That said, there are some truths on both sides. We were thin, there is no debating that. However, there was talent left by Meyer, especially on the defensive side of the ball. In hindsight, we've also seen we had more talent on offense than realized as underutilized guys under Muschamp have gone into the NFL. We actually have more active WR's on NFL rosters than any other school.
