What is the big deal with Joshua Dobbs?

I say this not trying to troll but more so trying to see what I am missing. I may have watched UT play 2 or 3 games all last season, so I don't know them that well. I have been hearing Dobbs name come up a lot lately and figured he must be pretty good.
However, I decided to learn more about him and looked up his numbers to find he only threw 9 touchdowns to 6 interceptions. His completion percentage is 63% which is good but not great. Where is all the hype coming from for this guy? His numbers are mediocre to bad. To put it into perspective, Anthony Jennings threw 11 touchdowns to 7 interceptions.

There is one good, proven quarterback coming back in the entire conference and it is the Dak Knight. Maybe Towles but he hasn't won enough.

He played vs Vandy in 2013 and 2014
40 total attempts, 193 yards, 4 interceptions
Phenom

I love how everyone leaves off his rushing statistics.
Probably because he scored 17 TDs in his final 6 games with a terrible OL, gimp Jalen Hurd, and a decimated WR corp.
Tennessee wouldn't have been bowl eligible without him last year. He literally ran QB draws all game against Vandy.
Furthermore, NFL scouts and cfb analysts love Dobbs. He is an elite athlete at QB, with a photographic memory and coach-like mentality/disposition.
The SEC has so many unknowns at QB this year. Give me some QBs you'd undoubtedly take over Dobbs.

He's going to disappoint a lot of UT fans. This is going to be very funny

Pass yds-2,717
Pass tds- 20.28
Int- 13.52
Rush yds-1053
Rush tds- 18
Dobbs' numbers multiplied over a full season.
Your "mediocre" argument is idiotic at best.
...the stupidity on this forum never ceases to amaze me.

Dobbs was able to last nearly 2 seconds after the snap before getting sacked or being forced to scramble compared to Worley being sacked after just 0.21 seconds.
He also faced much harder competition than Worley. Teams like Vanderbilt and Kentucky and whatnot.

Just a refresher course for tRant.
Space Dobbs
That's what we call 4.3 speed at the QB position folks. The guy looks like he's taking a boring jog in the park most of the time while completely out running defensive angles.
Also has elite intelligence, quickness, and foot speed. Good arm strength.
His deep ball accuracy could use work and he's improved upon that this offseason.
Really don't see what's NOT to like about the kid.
Get over your hatred of everything orange and white and watch the guy play.
15 more days.
...so ready to bump some of these dumbass threads.

A lot of it is based on the game he had vs South Carolina last year and he also came in an led a couple of scoring drives vs Alabama after being down 27-0 to cut the lead to 27-17. He has potential to be really good, he just isn't consistent. Who knows how far along he could have been if Butch Jones hadn't fricked around with Worley so much.

When Dobbs was in the game last year the Vols did two things. They moved the ball and they won. The other QB's had a hard time doing either of those. He has intangibles that look good for Tennessee. When their other QB's were in the game their offense just seemed lethargic, but when Dobbs took control the "O" clicked.

Dobbs is the second best QB in the SEC, behind Jeremy Johnson.

Only extra terrestrial QB in the SEC.

I'm dropping by to say Dobbs is probably the first D1 QB that is too ugly to muster a blowjob on a bi-daily basis..
I can't comment on his QB play since I watch the 2 TN teams the least out of the SEC.

Here is my opinion:
He was thrown into games as a true freshman/sophomore and looked more than competent behind a terrible O line (especially last year), and was able to move the ball with his arm and with his feet when the pocket broke down, which was often.
He has a live arm, good feet, and good pocket presence. In addition, he seems to be a high character young man who's carrying a tough class load on top of football.
My only knock on him is that he sometimes forces passes, which isn't out of the norm for young QBs. People rave about him because he has the tools and is expected to naturally progress to better decision making/more command of the offense.

I have only seen Dobbs play in 2 games. Those were both against Mizzou. He didn't look good at all but to be fair to him our D was pretty good for both of those. Our DEs had no problem tracking him down so I'm not sure his speed is all that great.
I'm sure he'll improve each year like most kids do.

Same with Dak. Overrated.

He is just VERY VERY ugly which makes him a polarizing figure... Nothing special about him, with the exception that he is proof that aliens exist.
