1) Forget The Strip (Cumberland Ave)
2) Park downtown, and you can walk to Market Square, the Old City, and the game. This is key Friday and Saturday. Street parking is free nights and weekends.
3) Calhoun's is on the river near the stadium, but their bbq isn't special imho. There are better options downtown.
4) Like many SEC towns, Knoxville is hilly. Bring good walking shoes.
5) Neyland is old, so most seats and concourses are cramped.

Believe me, we visiting fans all get the fact that's it's old. What we don't get is why UT insists on cramming as many people into Neyland as they do.
It's not just how narrow the visiting seats are, it's how narrow the aisles are. Neyland Stadium's visiting seats need to be at least four inches wider in all directions.
My estimate is by doing that Neyland would drop capacity by about 10,000 seats.

While I've gone on record earlier in this thread that the bum deal and the not so pretty campus (aside from the riverside setting, which is great) are facts, I think that the "narrow seats" meme is overblown.
Just how fricking fat are the people who complain about this? I sat in cheap nosebleeds there and thought it was fine. Start jogging or something.

I read somewhere that the seats at Neyland are 18 inches wide. If your arse is wider than that you should think about some lifestyle changes.

Not a Vols fan but its a fun place. Been there twice and had fun both times. People were generally nice and did not have one single issue. The stadium is tight seating but others are as well.
One of my best trips. Up there with USCe. Which was also a great trip.

The constant playing of Rocky Top would annoy me if I were a UT fan and always had to hear it, but as a visitor I thought it was fun.
