It's a decent idea, but more of a PR ploy by Delaney. The B1G only has a couple of top tier teams, followed by 2-3 sorta good teams, and the rest is crap. Dumping the FCS opponents is nothing more than swapping out Jacksonville State and North Texas for Indiana and Purdue.

Also heard on ESPN this morning that the coaches voted against this 14-0.

Nope, just said Ohio State is more SEC. Rest is irrelevant until you catch up.

One reason schools like UGA,USC,UF and UK had somewhat of a disadvantage because of their home and home in state rivalry games...at least this plan would put everybody on a somewhat level playing field.

I've already solved that: the year you play the 5th SEC Home game.....you VISIT your ACC in-state rival. The year you have 4 SEC Home games.....you HOST your ACC in-state rival. That way you're keeping a min. of 5 home games yearly.

Ohio State is a Yankee school, baw. So is Missouri, but at least they half-heartedly helped the CSA during the Civil War.

The main reason I want 9 conference games is because it's insane that you go TWELEVE years to fully rotate through the other division

It takes 6 years to play every school. It takes 12 to play home and away with everyone. I'm okay with my team missing out on two of 14 teams. 14 is a lot bro. I hope all the future expansion talk is nonsense.

yup. 9 conf games and no cross div rival. just move Bama and barn to the east, vandy and mizzou to the west. no need for cross div crap anymore.

Vandy won't be split from TN anymore than Aub. will be split from Ala. & Miss. split from MSU.
SEC WON'T split states with 2 teams into different conferences.

Personally, I love the idea. That said, what will happen to the FCS schools that materially rely on the check for playing Big 10 teams?

I think they'll make it. In the same year that LSU paid Towson $500k to come play them at home, they brought in over $400 million in revenue. These schools don't need the money, and if they do, who cares? They need to run their university better if a pay check for getting beat to death by bigger schools is all that is keeping them afloat.

B1G AD's are not around to make sure FCS schools have their AD finances for a bought win.

FCS vs FBS games have become an illness and weakens the product on the TV screen.

Stop playing a bye week in Nov. for crying out loud.

Go back to the way they did things back in the old days before schools started to pay them for a bye win.

Weird. I vividly remember the Nebraska - McNeese State game last year.....

Did you watch the entire game or just flip it over because Nebraska almost lost it?

I understand the reasons for the games. As a fan with season tickets I hate these games. Tickets aren't cheap and in most cases these games are nothing but glorified scrimmages. I'd like to get more value for my money.

well shite. if thats the case, just play nine conf games and keep cross div rivals so we can at least play everyone every four years.

There should be a few exceptions. For example Iowa has a competitive series going with instate Northern Iowa who is an FCS power. UNI is nearly as popular as the big schools in state and has an athletic department that's actually nationally competitive in the other 2 big sports in the state, wrestling and basketball.
