Statistically this would be likely to happen though. I'm betting at least 50% of the state's lawyers are MSU fans. You can't really contribute it to a rivalry influenced situation when it's the probable thing to happen.

What MSU booster is paying for this lawyer for him?
What Ole Miss booster is paying for Tunsil's? See how this works?

I'm not saying you're wrong, but it's ridiculous if this is accurate. It's really no different from a car dealership being able to give players vehicles because they had given one away for free at some point in time.

You're completely correct. However, I do enjoy my fantasy image of an overzealous ED member taking it upon himself to defend Miller. Just makes the whole thing much more entertaining.

I like to picture it like "A Time to Kill".
"Now, imagine if Lindsey was a woman."
"Now, imagine if Lindsey was a woman."

Has nobody ever heard of lawyers doing pro bono work?

It happens at pretty much every school. Hell FSU has casey anthonys lawyer representing players now
UF, UGA, LSU, Bama, AU UT, all have lawyers that do this, that I am sure of, as well as other schools outside of the SEC. Like I said, as long as the have done or do pro bono work on occasion, they are good to go.
And FWIW services=/=products in the eyes of many

An attorney has to report his pro bono work and that could come under suspicion from the NCAA if a lot of his pro bono work is defending or working with athletes at a school.
Much easier to just charge $1 and explain to anyone that asks that the fees agreed upon are protected by the same privilege as any other conversation between an attorney and his client.
