I don't. Not at his age, not with our offense. A sure thing would be hiring a guy who has been the DC for a fast paced team for years and who did well when ball control isn't a priority. Chavis running our defense is like getting a VP at Ford to run Twitter. It is a risk.

Who would you have rather hired? I don't think the person you are describing exists.

I would have to go back and see who the best options were last offseason. In my optimal world Snyder would have been fired a year early.

frick that, in my optimal world way back when we fricking pony up and pay Narduzzi a FRACTION of what we are paying Chavis today. That whole thing pisses me off in retrospect, because its a loop: Because we were cheap with Narduzzi, we wasted years with Snyder. Because Snyder failed so hard, we had to get a splash DC hire to give Sumlin a chance. If Chavis and therefore Sumlin flops the next coach probably won't get Chavis money to hire a DC because we will feel burned. So the hot shot DC goes elsewhere and we get a second choice, rinse and repeat.
