Is he? I think Chavis is close to a sure thing. Same with Christensen.

I don't. Not at his age, not with our offense. A sure thing would be hiring a guy who has been the DC for a fast paced team for years and who did well when ball control isn't a priority. Chavis running our defense is like getting a VP at Ford to run Twitter. It is a risk.

I am not saying I expect Chavis to do bad, but I think it is folly that some Aggies just assume a top 50 defense next year because he is coaching it. His first year at Tenn he barely had a top 70 defense and I bet that Tenn team (still back when they were good) had more defense talent than we do. I know LSU during his time had more talent that we do. Their fans like to beat the Third and Chavis drum but that doesn't scare me one bit. I am more scared that our defense will be on the field more than any Chavis coached team ever maybe, and who knows how he will handle that?

Christensen is a safe home-run hire to me. Sumlin could have hired him as OC and I would have been happy. I am less worried about that. Moorehead is the new offensive coach I am worried about. His unit needs MASSIVE improvement in play and attitude (outside of Speedy). It is pretty obvious that our recruiting isn't quite the same without Beaty, so Moorehead better be an awesome freaking WR coach so we don't have a setback in that spot.
