Sumlin seems obsessed with beating LSU. First he steals Chavis, when maybe a fresher face at DC would have allowed him to sign the best LB in the state last year. Then he keeps spav whose best work to date was helping to shred Kevin Steele's defense in the orange bowl. LSU or bust I guess.

Putting up a top 30 offense despite using a Soph QB who turned out to be a lush of limited ability, and switching mid-season to a true Fish, is actually not a bad performance. It's tough to judge Spav considering what he had to work with.

And it isn't as if Sumlin stood pat. He demoted McKinney after one season at OC, and he brought in Dave C. as run game coordinator to shore up that part of the offense.
