Giving Ole Miss the death penalty will have zero impact on the SEC and/or the NCAA.
No school is ever getting the death penalty ever again so it shouldn't even be mentioned. You are fooling yourself if you think a school getting the death penalty wouldn't effect the conference though. That harsh penalty would open up an entire can of worms for every school to have to deal with inside the division as well for the powers that be.
The death penalty isn't just a post season ban, the program gets banned from playing altogether for one season. That would throw a huge monkey wrench in every teams schedule in the West as well as the two cross divisional opponents. Do you know how hard it would be for that many schools to find replacement games on such short notice?
Also, how do you distribute the revenue equally for a year when you have one program who wouldn't even contribute to bringing in those dollars? Do you cut them out completely for that year? Obviously, that particular school wouldn't think that would be fair but that there would probably be officials from other schools who feel that if said school didn't contribute, then how do they deserve a piece of the pie?

I thought it was ten years? Or did they reduce it since SMU?
