Will we see any confederate flags during football tailgating this season?

I am thinking highly unlikely given everything that is happening in the country...

You're underestimating the Mississippi redneck. They love themselves some of that good ol' hate heritage.

Probably. Always someone doing something for attention.

I honestly don't remember seeing many, if any, at Alabama or any school in the West.

Scrooster would rather live in 1955 Jackson, Mississippi than any other place and any other time. I'm 100% convinced he'd bring back segregation at this point because he believes it's better than culture today.

You have to admit, back then you had more water fountains to drink from. And more restrooms too. Can never have enough of those things....like needing to take a piss after drinking from a water fountain. It seems to make logical sense to me....

The Cornerstone of the Confederacy is as follows:
Our new government is founded upon exactly the opposite idea; its foundations are laid, its corner- stone rests, upon the great truth that the negro is not equal to the white man; that slavery subordination to the superior race is his natural and normal condition. This, our new government, is the first, in the history of the world, based upon this great physical, philosophical, and moral truth. This truth has been slow in the process of its development, like all other truths in the various departments of science.
That sounds like hate heritage to me.

Naw, there was just twice as much plumbing, but you could only use half of it. It evens out to about the same as now.

I see them far more often at LSU than anywhere else. Just different colors, but it's the same.

I bet you believe the war was fought over slavery too.

Leave it to the state's village idiot to have no idea when and why there's a confederate flag flying over his state capitol. (Hint hint: 1961 over segregation)
I actually did used to see a decent amount of purple and gold confederate flags during gameday, but you honestly don't see them much, if ever, anymore.
eta: I am sure TeLeFaWx understands the Civil War was not fought solely over slavery, but it certainly played a part.

do you know why the flag is even flown or when it was first flown?
Or even what flag it actually is?

This is the same guy who thinks Frank Martin is a hybrid of Cal's recruiting and Coach K's x's and o's, so I don't even know why I bothered responding to him

Well, just had this whole deal elsewhere the other day, so I'll share.
It's the 2nd naval jack (or Tennessee battle flag some might say, they are the same). It was adopted by southern democrats(dixiecrats) as their official party flag in 1948.
Their platform was based largely on segregation and states rights(to enforce social laws).
The governor of South Carolina was their presidential nominee in 1948.
During the height of the civil rights(1960's) the dixiecrats started flying it at the South Carolina state capital.
The closest flags to it that might have been near South Carolina was a battle flag that was similar, but square. It was square because the 2nd official confederate flag had the square bit up in the corner(like the stars on the US flag) and then the rest of the flag was white.
Georgia's flag is basically a copy of the 1st official confederate flag. Only different was there was nothing inside the stars.
So basically, it's the flag of a political party in the 1950's and 1960's for segregation. That particular flag likely never saw the South Carolina capital before 1960.
