A trend? No. Saban is of Croatian descent and they're overwhelmingly Catholic

The fact you have traced the lineage of your coach is spooky. Most of Europe is overwhelmingly Catholic. The new world exists mostly because people wanted to chose the way they worship hence people breaking away from Catholicism. Saban being born in West Virginia, on the East Coast, has much more to do with him being Catholic than being Croatian does.

I don't think anyone "traced" Saban's religion. There was a rather lengthy thing on ESPN in 2005 about Saban and Belichick being Croation.

I just googled. Early results are split between Old French and Sephardic Jewish etymology for the name, and the two have absolutely nothing in common. They're not even remotely close on the language trees. So I guess Croatian is as good a possibility as any.

I apologize for having a decent memory for irrelevant shite. It is a fault of mine.

Depending on the study, Europe is somewhere between 40-48% Catholic

The New World exists because of plate tectonics

Catholics make up 7% of the West Virginia population so I have absolutely no idea what you're talking about

The U.S. was settled primarily by the English--and the English were Anglicans, not Catholic.

The East Coast is Southern Baptist, not Catholic. Now, if you go all the way up north to New England, you'll find some Catholics.

In a state that's overwhelmingly protestant? You're clueless.
