In the B1G we would have likely remained as we were in the XII - a decent mid-tier program facing the same recruiting difficulties Nebraska is now facing.

I'm glad someone else sees that. NU is definitely not the recruit magnet they were before. They get decent recruits but they used to have the same appeal as the Big 6 in the SEC. Not so anymore.

In the SEC, Mizzou can sell the conference as well as the program to elite southern athletes. We may still end up as a mid-tier program here too, but it will be in the premier conference - a huge upgrade.

These southern athletes are the key to Mizzou's future in football and basketball, IMO. With two consecutive East division titles in football, Mizzou is well on their way to becoming well known in the parts of the South where high school football and basketball are most intense. UGA, for example, probably isn't happy having another SEC school to compete with for Georgia's premier athletes.

It may take a full generation before Missouri playing SEC schools feels natural, but in almost every way the move has been a home run.

Unless the college realignment craze heats up again, which I doubt it will, I'd say Mizzou has found their permanent home. I hope so. I like having you guys here.

M-I-Z!!! S-E-C!!! I grew-up in the Missouri bootheel and we sometimes played AR and TN HS teams. It's a natural fit for me (hate Yankees). The absolute best thing that EVER happened to Mizzou athletics, period. Thanks for having us!
