Over the past 18 months, Georgia has hired a number of staff members with a direct tie to Alabama:

• Defensive coordinator Jeremy Pruitt, who was Alabama’s secondary coach from 2010-12, and for three years before that a quality control coach.

• Linebackers coach Kevin Sherrer, an Alabama director of player development from 2010-12.

• Offensive line coach Rob Sale, who served on Alabama’s strength staff from 2007-11, and was also an offensive analyst.

• Strength and conditioning coordinator Mark Hocke, who was Alabama’s No. 2 on the strength staff the previous six years.

• Director of player personnel Sam Petitto, who was an intern at Alabama in 2008.

Saban, attending SEC meetings on Tuesday, was asked about his former staffers now at Georgia, headlined by Pruitt. It was clear Saban still holds him in great esteem.

“Those guys all did a great job for us. I think Jeremy Pruitt is one of the best coaches we’ve ever had on our staff,” Saban said...
