When I was in school in the 80s, it was before the internet and SEC expansion. LSU had played A&M more times than Auburn, and was in the middle of a ten-year contract with the aggies. Needless to say, I was more familiar with aggies than with Auburn fans, probably having as much to do with proximity as anything else.
You could always spot an aggie on the job site, they were the ones looking like they had no idea what they were doing all while trying to tell other people what to do. They were really annoying.
I respected Auburn's program as being similar to LSU's, and when the Tigers beat Auburn in '88, I thought it was a great accomplishment.
Then expansion happened and LSU started playing Auburn every year.
Then the internet happened and I got a whole lot more exposure to Auburn fans - more than I ever wanted.
And then I began to realize, Auburn fans are really just Alabama aggies.
I liked Auburn much more in the 80s.

Hey You Swamp Kitten Corndogs, You're Going Down Today! by southeasttiger113
? We have the best food in the world dumbass but tell me more about how top notch Alabama cuisine is
Actually the BBQ is excellent. Dreamland's ??
And on our way back from the '12 Auburn-LSU game, we stopped in a diner the following morning that had the fricking best breakfast potatoes I have ever had. Not sure if it was in Opelika or somewhere close to there.

Our journey began with our rousing defeat of NCAA Tourney bound LSU in the SEC tournament and it continues today in Hoover, Al where we're going to put the those swamp tiger out of the misery
Hmm I notice a trend here. Hopefully we don't get caught overlooking another mediocre Auburn squad, but in the end it won't make a difference.

With your Ace pitcher it's possible. Unfortunately he's hurt and the guy your pitching today is going to get smashed!!

Care to link that? When hear world renowned I think of places like Commander's Palace in New Orleans. Not saying that Birmingham doesn't have a good restaurant or two but throwing world renowned around so casually is a little bold

Ask any notable chef around the city and they will tell you the last decade has been good to Birmingham. The revitalization of the city center and neighborhoods like Avondale has opened the door for new restaurants and eateries. It's also brought in scores of new potential customers and national headlines.
Just last week, Zagat named Birmingham its top up-and-coming food city.
Chefs like Frank Stitt and Chris Hastings put Birmingham on the map. But they also paved the way for a new generation of culinary masters and entrepreneurs to open up innovative new eateries and raise the Magic City's culinary cachet, as we noted in this week's Cover Story.
