Considering what Tubs did to Bama
It wasn't Tubbs being some amazing coach, it was more Bama being on probation and scholarship restrictions. A lot of coaches got fat off of Alabama during that period. Nutt, Croom, Tubbs, Fulmer, just to name a few.
Most people beat Bama during that time. Hawaii beat Bama and so did Northern Illinois. It wasn't an accomplishment, we were extremely bad. We had no "star" players. Unless you guys consider Prothro a star, and we all know what happened to him.
Funny what happened when we got off of probation and got a competent leader. Every single guy I listed above was run off within 2 years. Their asses blistered and heads hung in shame. It still brings a smile to my face.

It's absolutely hilarious that you think Bama's resurgence had anything to do with these coaches being fired.

Oh it absolutely did. Tubbs being destroyed 36-0 certainly didn't HELP his case to stay as Auburn HC. Better damn well believe if he had continued beating Bama, he would have stayed at Auburn. Any other belief is delusion. Same with Fulmer. His entire career was built on beating Alabama while they were in probation.
Once the gravy train ended, time to pay the piper. To the tune of 8 consecutive wins over those hillbillies. I know it was a fun time for all of you, I'm not sorry it ended in such spectacular fashion lol.

You can lay a partial claim on Fulmer, even though he was 11-6 vs. Bama, but you're delusional if you think Bama had anything to do with Tubbs or Croom.
Tubbs was 7-3 vs. Bama, including 6 in a row prior to his last season. He wasn't fired because of one loss.
Croom was 2-3 vs. Bama, including 2 in a row before his last season. He wasn't fired because of losses to Bama. He was fired for being 2-3 in the Egg Bowl with 2 embarrassing losses and for never beating LSU.

No he will not outlast those coaches since he will head to the NFL the first chance he gets.
too late. Several NFL gauged his interest and he isn't interested at the moment. He could be down the road, but he's not interested in doing the NFL thing now.

Beating Alabama is a season saver. It's a huge notch on a resume. You're downplaying Alabama's importance not only in the SEC, but nationally. These guys got fed and fat off of cheap wins over Bama when the program was at its absolute lowest point.
It's no surprise to any competent individual that they were fired soon after losing to Bama. All of the programs in the SEC compare themselves to and strive to be Alabama. When they see they are falling behind, they make a change. Get real buddy.

There is too much noise with the whole NFL stuff for it to be just NFL owners wanting a college coach that has no interest in the NFL.

Yeah...I mean he is probably a 9 or 10 win average coach....some shitty years interspersed with a year where they could maybe win it all. Reasonably good recruiter but he is no Saban (no one is......)Try and stay .500 against Bama. Done a good job at keeping discipline so far.....
This whole Gus-champ experiment will be interesting to watch. Boom is an improvement but they still need better players and more depth on the defensive side of the ball. How Gus' HUNH philospohy meshes with Boom's philospohy and the o dragging the d up and down the field will be interesting to see...

Fulmer 11-6 vs Bama
Exactly. It was all gravy while we were down. He was a god. Most of those wins came against probation riddled Bama teams. Bad Bama teams. It wasn't like he was winning the SEC every year, no of course not. Beating Alabama kept the masses happy and kept his job safe.
Saban shows up, promptly whips his fat arse in 07 and 08, and Fulmer is shown the door. That isn't speculation, it's a fact.

Without reading any of the posts in here, I assume there are a lot of trolls and flames?
Help get me access to the AU board and let's talk more about it. I personally think AU is headed in the right direction. I also think Les will probably coach into his seventies. And I think Saban is out within 5 years; he's accomplished enough to justify it.
We can go into more depth on the subject on your board.
