South Carolina: Kansas St, a program that was lifted from the cellar dweller status to become a perpetual 10win team under a legendary coach. Unable to support this success longterm after losing HOF guidance
quote:
Auburn:Georgia Tech, programs that historically yoyo from national relevance to the forgotten, crazy coaches running gimmick offenses have them in the national title picture while simultaneously at risk of being laughed at
quote:
Georgia: UCLA. Ton of instate talent, ton of potential and consistently never breaks into the champions club. Made even more painful as opposing teams raid their talent pool to win championships
quote:
LSU: Penn State - Unbelieveable in state talent, historical success and good but not great coaches mask the fact that neither team is on the verge of championships. Both are like North Korea, on your mind but not being taken seriously
quote:
Missouri: Michigan State - Despite recruiting "less" talent, their coaches always do more with less and puts their teams at the top of the conference. Just like MSU is an outsider to the Big 10 traditional powers, Mizzou gets no love despite being SEC runner up consecutively
quote:
Tennessee: Nebraska. Traditional powerhouses that don't have in state recruiting grounds. Neither one seems to be able to compete in the fast pace modern CFB and their fans only wish they could go back to the 90s

How the above obvious connections were not made is absolutely beyond me. OP list is so terrible that it can't even be "trolling"

Historically we are a far, FAR better program than UCLA. And with only 1 program in state (us), we can't sign the top 25 in GA every year. It's only natural other teams (many elite programs within 5 hours of us) will get some of the talent. But dont' act like we dont' get our fair share.
I think the Texas comparison is a good one. Also it's not like they have 20 national titles or something, prior to 2005 the last one they won was 1970 (in a year they lost their bowl game, mind you).

Nebraska and Tennessee are not very similar at all when it comes to in-state talent.
Last 5 cycles
Nebraska
0 5 stars
2 4 stars
Tennessee
2 5 stars
40 4 stars

LSU not on the verge of championships or being taken seriously?
You do realize there hasn't been a 4 year stretch in college football since the turn of the century where LSU hasn't played in a national championship game right?
I agree penn state has been somewhat irrelevant for a while

A much better comparison than to fricking Clemson, for sure.
