I don't understand La'El falling.

He is a first round talent that is now being looked at like a 6-7 round flier. Hasn't it been put out there that he is not a suspect or person of intrest to the BRPD? How come just him being a character witness to his deceased GF is enough to have him free fall (so far)? Obviously we have only gone through one round and he could still very we'll be picked relatively early. However a lot of what I'm reading is he is late round, maybe even UDFA. I don't get why.

I heard people on radio shows say its because he had any association with a murder at all. I think its bs. He can't control what happened to the girl.

It's all about uncertainty.
Teams cannot completely whiff on a first rounder. I'd be surprised if he gets as high as 3rd round.
Wish they would have granted him his release from the draft. It's going to cost him millions.

I saw many message board posts questioning how any team could take a chance drafting a "murder suspect" -- apparently there's still a lot of confusion and uncertainty on a national level, whereas locally we've been told he's not a suspect.

If his only association is knowing the victim it doesn't make sense for him to drop. How could NFL teams justify passing on talent simply because a former GF was tragically murdered.
Yea but message board posters are stupid. I would assume, NFL teams have access to better information than some rando posters.

They do. And that is why he is falling.

Than why did the BRpd come out and announce he wasn't a suspect or person of interest?

Some team is going to get a top 10-15 pick talent in a late round and it will work out well for them...
However, if he's not picked by the 5-6th round, I'm going to assume team GMs know something that the public doesn't. The reward seems to obviously outweigh the risk at that point, given the information that is currently available (i.e., not being a suspect).

Right, I just hate it for him. One of my favorite all time players. Came back for his senior season when most don't and then this happens. Hopefully this will become an inspirational sports story one day.

Agreed. I hope he gets drafted if he is innocent. There was no way a team was going to draft him knowing there is even a 1% chance that he could be involved in this. It is way too early in this murder investigation also. If this had happened a few months ago and he wasn't a suspect it'd be different.

This. I would love for the Texans to take him in the third or fourth if he's still there even though they don't need a tackle.

Because his agent has cash to get people to say things?

Hell I would rather have had him at 9 than Flowers.

For you older guys like me, remember Marino falling to the 27th pick? It was all about uncertainty due to rumors he liked coke.

are you 5 years old
fresh off of
1. hernandez trial
2. ray rice domestic abuse
anyone even close to a crime, much less one against a woman is blackballed. No way someone takes a chance on that

The police have said he is not a suspect, but I believe they have also said they don't have any suspects right now. NFL teams are obviously worried that this kid could eventually become a suspect

Good post. I don't understand how someone doesn't understand why he fell.

It's a tough deal. Hopefully he gets his name cleared. He always played with a chip on his shoulder. Really enjoyed watching him.
