Yeah, except it wasn't really Cox vs Stafford. It was JT3 vs Stafford and neither of them had any starting experience going into the year (unless you count JT3 vs Florida in 2005). Cox was in the mix and they gave him a shot, but everybody knew that Stafford was an inevitability just based on potential.

In the current scenario, whomever Eason is competing against next year is going to have a full season in the lights under his belt and that could create an issue with getting him on the field as a frosh.

The playing field in 2006 was far more equal.

But this year's initial starter might not, due to injury or performance, start the whole year. Sometimes a team will have a whole year of mediocre QB play that open doors for others.

It's fortunate that our first game is very easy and our second perhaps easy also. Those opponents give the coaches more time to choose the starter
