This has been admitted several times in this thread. Alabama fans want consistent tournament appearances, but understand the limitations of the program. Your troll attempt is one of the stranger ploys I've seen.

What is bizarre here, is the Bama fans attempt to paint MG as a poor coach. You have the same people who claim the program has limitations, defend Coleman C in other post. They fire a coach because his salary doesn't match their expectations, but fail to admit that they might have had the solution on campus before. They think they can throw money at it, and it will fix everything.

I love watching the Bama fans post about being the 2nd winningest program in the SEC, but fail to understand that Gottfrieds success, proves 18 year old could care less about history.

Instead of blaming the coach, maybe they should look at the program and administration for the problem.

Keep posting, I enjoy the delusion of the fan base..

MG was successful at Bama much like Tubs at Auburn. He took bama to the elite 8, but as he got further along in his tenure he got lazy and stopped working as hard as he became complacent and I honestly think the Saban hire and the focus that took from Him and basketball just added to his complacency. Tubs didn't all of a sudden forget how to coach football after 10 years at Auburn. The same reason he as fired was why MG was fired. Nobody is going to deny the ACC is a better basketball conference than the SEC but to say bama basketball is bad because of the administration is ignorant you stupid shite.

Jesus man. Most of us admit NC St is a better basketball program than Alabama. How could we not? Also, most Bama fans think Gottfried was a good coach who deservedly got fired after he got lazy and lost focus. What more do you want? All we expect is someone who can consistently get us in the tournament, like Gottfried did, and occasionally have a great season, like Gottfried did. And if our next coach does that, we will love him and support the program, unless he gets lazy and takes us for granted, like Gottfried did.

You need to formalize your argument here a bit better? You're carrying on about three different arguments in one troll. Is this about MG, NC State verus Alabama, facilities in one league versus another, hierarchy of athletics at Alabama, or something entirely different?

Within the context you're framing this, it does make Alabama fans look hypocritical about MG.But there's a much larger picture.

"After that, his tenure at Alabama was marked by key player injuries and disappointment. Alabama posted back-to-back losing seasons in the SEC in 2006–07 and 2007–08. The 2007–08 season marked the first time in nine years (only the second time under Gottfried) that Alabama did not reach either the NIT or NCAA post-season tournament, although the Tide did receive an invitation to the first annual College Basketball Invitational, which it did not accept.

On January 26, 2009, after the controversial departure of player Ronald Steele, and Gottfrieds alleged affair with a players girlfriend, Gottfried met with Alabama Athletics Director Mal Moore, and resigned mid-season as basketball coach at the University of Alabama."
This pretty much sums things up with Mark's exodus from Alabama. The only folks happier than NC St. to have him are Alabama...did I mention that he's also a prick?
