Yeah, it's ridiculous. Some of our fans are so delusional. He's done so well with a program that's completely neglected at Ole Miss. I think all three of our head coaches should be able to retire from Ole Miss when they want.

I never understood why Cincinnati let him go after that stellar job he did as interim coach. He's a good coach.

We'll just have to see, but the few actual recruiting insiders in college basketball don't think that's the case at all

Not once have I ever wanted him fired. The man has done wonders for this program. Ole Miss would be stupid to fire him. It would be a PR nightmare. No coach would want to come here.

The same kind of fans who wanted stansbury gone and look where that got state.

It's probably something similar to State wanting to fire quite possibly the best coach in its school history.
Two completely different scenarios. People outside of the know should make no comment on Stansbury and his leaving of MSU.

I'm not in the know but hiring Rick Ray had catastrophe written all over it... The guy inherited a flaming bag of shite 3 years ago and there's still tons of work left to be done.
Sometimes programs just dont know their place in the echelons of college sports... Yall thought yall were mid to upper tier and are now seeing that you were actually a bottom tier basketball program... Ole Miss is even lower than MSU in the college bball pecking order and our fans would definitely find that out if we let AK go.

Richard Williams was a better "coach". He was dismissed, too - and it wasn't because he couldn't win.

OM was fun to watch last night. Congrats to them and their coach.

Not all Ole Miss fans want to fire Kennedy. I personally think he has done a good job at Ole Miss, and given time will do even more.

Everyone in the "know" says that AK is highly respected and knows his stuff when it comes to basketball IQ. He is just handcuffed recruiting at OM. A school with no basketball history, a terrible arena and (lets be honest here) a school that is easily negatively recruited against, especially young black kids. He essentially has to get players that have a skill set but are flying under the radar. Like Saiz from Spain and Perez from Venezuala. Smith and Rhett are 5th year senior transfers. If Moody is 6'2 he is playing big time basketball out of HS and not Juco then to OM.
His olders players as well were like this. Holloway always went left and couldn't hit a FT to save his life. He wins a few guys out of Memphis and Jackson (Buckner and Summers) but he is normally trying to fit a puzzle of flawed players and make them competitive. This is why they are so inconsistent in my opinion.
At the start of the season someone posted a thread about basketball recruiting talent basked on stars. OM was 14th out of 14 in the conference and he made the tournament.
There is no doubt he should be around a while. The new arena should help recruiting and you never know what he could do with actual talent.

Say what?
They were good once:
They have hof coach Frank McGuire and NBA hof player Alex English. USC has a ton more tradition than us.
