correct
I know what it's like when LSU has a top 5 defense and just average QB play. They win a minimum of 10 games.

And we know what it's like to have a great offense and an average defense

My Avi is for Mizzou I'm a Missouri native by birth. It's Hobbes from Calvin and Hobbes. It's not meant to imply anything about LSU

No, I'm talking about your sig pic at the bottom. It has the LSU logo with Toonces in it.

which resulted in what exactly?
Answer: one flash in the pan year
again, LSU already has the guy at QB who could make this offense click. aTm still has ground to make up in terms of recruiting. I'm not trying to troll or flame or anything, but Chavis isn't a miracle worker. He always had top talent at LSU to work with, and his defense relies heavily on CB's who can roam the field and/or play man

Sorry Aubie gave me the sig pic, it is full of too much awesomeness to get rid of it
And the sig line is too damn awesome as well. Every whorn in Texas was running around proclaiming Saban was leaving Bama for the whorns. So much arrogance, so much humor

John Chavis, based on FACTS, is clearly a better DC than Kevin Steele. I don't see where people are arguing that. LSU fans, myself included, are just upset with the way he left (talking on the phone before the bowl game) and with how he is handling things now (acting as though he didn't violate the terms of the contract).
That being said, Chavis has his work cut out for him at A&M. Yes, their offense will be more productive than LSU but if you look at time of possession last year (LSU #9 in the country at 33 MPG and A&M #122 at 26 MPG) than that is going to require a lot of depth on defense; something A&M doesn't have. I think he'll clearly improve the defense in Year 1, but there will be some major growing pains at times... just like there will be at LSU. I'm definitely not going to sit here and argue that Steele is some great DC hire. It will be nice to see more pressure on the QB from the front four though and I do believe that is going to improve for LSU. It will be interesting to see how that shakes out at A&M based on whatever scheme Chavis thinks he will run with the current talent/experience on defense at A&M.
Trying to argue that A&M's defense is going to be more talented than LSU's in a couple of years is a bold statement though. If you believe that, you're going to be disappointed.

No, you just fall into Aggy groupthink too readily.
Did you really just say that in a thread where almost every LSU poster is talking down the Chavis loss (aka something UNTHINKABLE back in November) and talking up the Steele hire (aka something UNTHINKABLE until Les also hired Coach O)?
Glass houses Wade.
To be fair I fall into Aggie groupthink when it serves my narrative. It is not the second gear for me like many Aggies. I would think I could get a little credit for that by now.

Not me (because I actually don't like the game as much as all the political BS that surrounds the game) but sure some A&M posters do follow LSU football quite closely.

Agreed. How much ground is the matter of debate.

For the umpteenth time, he doesn't have to be. A marginal improvement on that side of the ball will be sufficient.

sigh
look, every LSU fan on the planet adored Chavis. The point being made is that he is not going to turn a defense full of Big 12 caliber players into a dominant defense. He relied very heavily on the recruiting of Raymond and Wilson. He always had top tier athletes to run his defense. Yall will likely get there, but it's not something that can be turned around in 1 or 2 seasons IMO.
