Talent evaluation is key.

As usual. Someday people will learn to quit writing off Mizzou. We're like the anti-Tennessee.

You guys are my favorite to win this year until someone can prove they can knock you off the east throne.

'preciate it.

We'll see how it goes. I didn't think we had any shot in '14 to repeat in the East (and we shouldn't have), yet our defense stepped up big time and Pinkel did the most masterful coaching job of his career. I don't expect us to repeat in '15, but I won't doubt it after '14 proved me wrong.

No conference titles, national titles, BCS bowl or playoff appearances. Yep, y'all do it better than everyone.

We win games and develop talent relative to what our recruiting classes are ranked better than anyone. Sure we haven't won the big hardware but when you consider our recruiting classes are consistently in the mid-30's when they come in, we outperform that almost every year.

Recruiting team rankings matter. Of this, there is no doubt

But grats on the two east titles and being embarrassed as expected in the SEC championship games

Heavy is the head that wears the crown.

Grats on beating Notre Dame in your bowl game though!

That is impressive- shows very good evaluators and good coaching as well.

Pinkel does a great job of recruiting to match his system. Yes, no national titles, or what have you, but this has been a consistently good Mizzou program for years now. If you look at the recruiting rankings then UT or Georgia should be heavily favored to win the East next year.

That having been said, while I favor Georgia to sneak in past Mizzou this year, I think the Tigers are in the hunt right up until the very end. The schedule plays out nicely for them and if the wheels don't come off a ten win + season sounds very reasonable.

The rest of the SEC East being down is key.

You are correct. UT is one of the most successful and storied programs in the nation. You are never won anything Missouri.

Sure they haven't won anything but they have earned respect from the other SEC schools and that matters. They will likely never win anything important championship wise without a complete fluke year where everyone is down and they are extremely up but they likely will compete successfully every year. That's solid and justifies them as a good addition to the conference. Just my take

Also I love the fact that they have been more successful, and likely will continue to be, than TAM and still talk nowhere near the shite TAM fans do. Now that is worth it and I hope it continues. TAM was supposed to be the prize and Mizzou the afterthought and the opposite has been true. TAM has only been good for laughs and opening the Texas pipeline to the conference. Great job Slive

That's true, but here's what else is true:

1. Tennessee has consistently pulled "top" recruiting classes while Mizzou has pulled in "average" recruits.

2. Tennessee football is at an all-time low and has been pathetic for 7 years now. They are 40-47 in that time frame. Mizzou is 64-29 during that same period.

3. Mizzou has never lost to Tennessee in football. :3-0:

4. Mizzou has won the SEC East (the division that Tennessee is in) as many times in the last 2 years as Tennessee has finished above .500 in the last 7 years.

5. Tennessee people are fat and stupid.

Missouri would have pounded LSU each of the last two years.

I think what that mostly shows is the 1-15ish range is pretty even outside of a few outliers like TCU or Mizzou. Seems like step one is getting that level of talent and step two is competing.
