There are certainly politics when it comes to BCS/NY6 bowls. That is simply a fact.
When you say "play your way in", that suggests that if you win a certain amount of games, you will get a NY6 bowl. That is not the case. Ole Miss went 9-3 and got a NY6 bowl. Mizzou went 10-2 and didn't. They were both in the SEC.
But because of the various divisions and selection committee's Ole Miss got a better bowl bid.
That is what I call "subjective." I would almost say that it is indeed a "fact", because it is.

It's fine to be proud of it when you don't have anything else, like South Carolina or Mizzou.
It still has that asterisk "you still lost in the championship" feel though so it's bittersweet.

Apparently they are all liberal with the use of "championship" with regard to a division title.

as much a fact as anything when somebody who guilty admits it, that's usually good enough evidence for most people, if you're a beaker lover, well that's your problem.
