I've always seen it as nothing more than mindless female sex appeal on the level of Twilight and romance novels. I've never read them but assume the writing is as poor as the plot.
However, in response to the movie coming out I have seen hundreds of Facebook and Twitter posts, as well as news articles from prudes, undersexed women, pussy men and the uber religious saying how evil and degrading to society this is. Not because it's a mindless shitty premise, but because depicting S&M is the height of moral corruption.
I now find myself rooting for the movie to break box office records and get incredible reviews for no other reason than I want to watch the world burn.
I agree with this, I hope it goes down in history with the likes of Citizen Kane and Gone With the Wind, just to frick with everyone.

I haven't seen one post on FB about this movie. I'm guessing most folks are already into porn and soft mainstream porn is passe.

I, for one, can't wait to see it.
frick the prudes.
frick the undersexed women (post haste).
The pussy men can get fricked.
The uber religious need to get laid.

I read like 75% of it. It was really stupid but also mildly informing. It verbalizes and explains a lot of how women like to feel dominated. Also could have one handed myself to a couple parts. It's still a terribly written book and the main character is stupid and not interesting. She sure likes to get her esophagus bruised though.

Dude...the scenes in the preview for that movie are HAWT!!! Especially the one where he has the blindfold thing and she holds up her arms with her fists together and says "Please?".
Guess I need me some Jesus or something.
ETA: Placing my bets on the "or something", though.

Tbh, I've read (and liked) worse written books. To hear people talk about the writing, you'd think it was written at a preschool level and they're accustomed to reading the Wall Street Journal or something
I enjoyed the books for what they were, I'll enjoy the film for what it is, ????,
.....will profit on Valentine's in the bedroom

Exactly. I mean, if we weren't meant to experiment, why were we given the brain to imagine some of that stuff? And electricity...if it was supposed to be in the dark, the higher power should've never let us discover it.

ive never understood why people judge others who like to try different stuff in bed. Certain things aren't for me, but I don't give a damn if others like it.
