yea, kind of a surprise. Arkansas Media hasn't even reported it yet.

Well he's a fine coach. His weakness is as a recruiter. Don't have to do that in the NFL

One of y'all called it the other day and said that in an interview he sounded less than enthusiastic, as if he had one foot out the door.
to the nostradamus among us.

Thoughts on replacements? Who's still available?

Coaching college is not the same as NFL. Especially position coaches. Only so much to teach an NFL back and they are paid to be there. May not be the most enthusiastic recruiter either. Can only coach'em up so much. Especially at the RB position. And I've been less than impressed with our ball control(fumbles) and blocking by our backs. Not terrible, but definitely room for improvement. We'll never get the best talent unless our cheating improves. We have to maximize the kids we get. Beat Ole Miss, MSU, Mizzou etc. Win a few from Bama, LSU and Florida and then coach them up to the max. We MUST emphasize fundamentals. Look at the difference in our D with the same kids. Biggest difference I saw was better, more aggressive tacking and fewer big plays. Uncertainty and timidness leads to both poor tackling and big plays. Also they seemed to be "all in" even if they were outta position. If you frick up, don't quit, hit somebody, block somebody, follow the play. I have not seen those advancements in the backs. If anything, a regression in A Collins (could be from his work ethic from what I hear-but it's the RB's coach to make sure that doesn't happen).

Sorry for rambling, trying to find anything to occupy me other than the work I need to do.

I guess I'm kinda disappointed but coaches are going to take other jobs like this from time to time. I wish Coach Thomas the best.
Hopefully, we get a quality replacement.

Better to lose them to promotions(as far as general perception goes) as opposed to having to fire them.

I agree. Hopefully, more info will soon be available.

Agreed, one thing I've noticed is BB likes his hirings to be on the down low. I'm sure, if or when, BB decides to leave we won't know until its a done deal.

May not mean anything going forward, but coach Michael Smith coached RBs from 1997-2007. Just a side note to consider.

Can't say that I care at all to be honest.
Bielema and our OL has more to do with our RB success than any coaching Thomas has done.
His shitty recruiting will not be missed and we can't possibly hire anyone that would be worse. We'll likely upgrade again. Coach B knows how and who to hire when it comes to his staff.

His first hires probably would of done well in the B1G. But after going through a year in the SEC, he realized his original staff wasn't gonna cut it in this league.
He decided to fix the defensive coaches first. Those results spoke for them self last season. This offseason he went about fixing the offensive coaches. Wouldn't surprise me to see similar results this year to what our defense saw

Im pretty much positive that Partidge is the only coach that he actually wanted to keep.

I'm sure there will be plenty of interest in the job. If I'm not mistaken his last 3 RB coaches have all moved on to the NFL.

I ran across this also
quote:
Dallas Cowboys: Arkansas consultant Steve Loney has accepted a job with the Dallas Cowboys, Bret Bielema announced. Loney’s primary role with the Razorbacks was to scout and break down film of upcoming opponents, ahead of the rest of the staff.

I was reading comments earlier on WholeHogSports.com and people seriously mentioned Houston Nutt as a possible replacement for our running back coach position. LMFAO
