Rece was a hot commodity and ESPN was going to lose him without a promotion.
Fowler has done the gameday gig and now it allows him to focus more on announcing the game without having to travel the day of the game. He does tennis play by play as well in the offseason and will probably add some additional announcing duties is my guess.
Gameday has kind of run its course. It's time for Corso to retire but ESPN has been very gracious towards him.

I like both Davis & Fowler, as they both know college football & are professionals. The polar opposites being Robert Smith, Kannel, and big ears. Fowler is a huge improvement over Mushhhberrrrger as the lead announcer.And both are relatively young, so both should be around for a while. Who eventually reprises Corso's role on GameDay will be interesting but I can't see any new comer like Tebow taking a major role just yet. But the best news yet is that Lou is finally leaving the studio if this poster is correct.
