I think it's just asking for trouble. All it takes is one accusation from a recruit's sister to destroy a coach's career. Not smart.

That I agree with. But to be fair that's one accusation for anyone. I have a friend who is a high school teacher and he says the male teachers have to go find a woman to tell the girls when they're dressed inappropriately. Apparently they'll respond with "why are you looking" when a man brings it up, and that's just a bag of trouble none of them want to open to enforce the rules.

I'm gonna be honest, I know everyone else won't like this but I don't have a problem with Harbaugh sleeping over with recruits. Now, if he were snuggling up to them in their beds I'd be the first to get angry, but at this point it is no different than when they have their friends stay over. It's just an extended period of hanging out, except you both go to sleep, where you're not interacting with each other.

And then you consider that if the kid goes to Michigan Harbaugh will be a second (or first) father figure to them. Not all that weird for a father figure to be asleep somewhere in the same house as the person they're a father figure too.

Now if I thought Harbaugh was some sort of child predator it'd be different, but he's not, so I'm not seeing it as that big of a problem. Also apparently the parents are ok with it or he wouldn't be there. Though I get why people do have a problem with it.

It's an odd way to start a coach player relationship

Nick Saban said something interesting today about Alabama's open assistant coach spot. Here's what he said followed by my read of situation.

That sounds to me like the hire will not be coming from Alabama's current staff but from

Maybe the Roach thing isn't happening

And why would we care about another school's recruiting? Unless whoever he has in mind requested that he stay until NSD. I am confused.

A lot of CBs in for Landon Dickerson to FSU. I wish we didn't spend so much time kissing Greg Little's arse.

Excuse me if I'm making this up, but isn't there something about being able to "deputize" someone else to recruit off site if you have a vacant spot? So you're not undermanned during the hiring process?

Could be why Roach was seen at Bob Jones HS, if I'm not pulling this out of my arse...

I'm sure Saban knows exactly what he's doing.

From the OM recruiting thread:

quote:

From today's nuggets.

"State is a distant third." Talking about AJ Brown. Neal and Chase both said that.

quote:

Holy shite. Nuggets are insane.

Summary.

We lead big for Simmons, Mykel Jones, and Anderson.

We lead for Brown and Kobe Jones.

Alabama leads by a mile for Mique.

Also from the OM thread:

The guys just said today on the podcast that AJ is announcing at Starkville High. There is no way in hell he announces Ole Miss there. No way. Selling subscriptions, or there sources are extremely shitty.

I mean, Rashaan Evans announced at Auburn High School that he was headed to Alabama.

#STRecruiting: Per his mother DL Rashan Gary will officially visit Clemson this weekend.

He wants to see the CFB trophy up close.

“Robertson might appear to be a long shot for Notre Dame, but he has consistently mentioned the Irish as a legitimate option, and that has Notre Dame in a favorable position. The Irish have built a strong relationship with Robertson, and with Stanford not looking like an option down the stretch, it’s hard to see him landing anywhere else, especially after pushing a pair of planned official visits to Alabama.” – Andrew Ivins, BlueandGold.com

“Robertson gave an early commitment to Alabama. He has remained a top priority target for the Crimson Tide despite his de-commitment prior to the start of his senior season. He has visited Tuscaloosa several times. Robertson's sister is on a track scholarship at Alabama A&M. He has a close relationship with Nick Saban and Alabama wide receivers coach Billy Napier.” – Andrew Bone, TideSports.com

Gotta confess I'm butthurt that it looks like he is going elsewhere.

LB Ben Davis, Gordo, Ala

Georgia skyrocketed up Davis’ list when the Bulldogs hired Kirby Smart away from Alabama. There’s also still an Auburn visit on his schedule. That said, the five-star linebacker’s ties to Tuscaloosa remain strong. Davis, whose father played for the Tide, visited Alabama over the weekend and the Bama seems to have cemented themselves as the team to beat in recent weeks. Davis recruitment isn’t over, and Alabama fans shouldn’t take his commitment for granted, but things are looking good in T-Town when it come to the blue chip legacy. Georgia seems most likely to push the Tide for Davis’ letter of intent.

Prediction: Alabama

Simmons recently announced plans to visit Southern Miss on Jan. 27. And while Simmons’ younger brother plays for the Eagles, the fact that the program is currently without a head coach makes a commitment seem less likely than ever. Ole Miss, Mississippi State and Alabama all seem like more likely landing spots for the five-star. Alabama is certainly a player when it comes to landing Simmons, but pulling him out of Mississippi may prove difficult.

Prediction: Ole Miss

LB Lyndell Wilson, Montgomory (Ala.) Carver

Wilson’s recent visit to Alabama featured a laundry list of Twitter photos featuring personal attention from Nick Saban, who seems to have made the five-star linebacker a top priority. Wilson’s final visit will be to Florida, and the Gators will need to work in an effort to unseat the Crimson Tide at the top of Wilson’s recruitment. Georgia is also involved with the Alabama-based prospect, but the Bulldogs are also thought to be chasing Saban and company.

Prediction: Alabama

DT Derrick Brown, Sugar Hill (Ga.) Lanier

Brown has been a busy man since the dead period ended, having already taken official visits to Auburn and Georgia. Brown has long been rumored to be a lean to the Dawgs, but an official visit to Tennessee this weekend looms large. Add in the fact that Alabama and Mississippi State both headed into the dead period feeling very confident about their chances and you have a full-fledged recruiting mystery. The safe money remains on Georgia, but it's clear that Brown is going to weigh all his options before making a decision. With that in mind, the Vols getting the last visit could seal the deal.

Prediction: Tennessee

ATH Mecole Hardman Jr., Bowman (Ga.) Elbert County

Hardman has done his best to keep people guessing when it comes to his recruitment, including taking a surprise official visit to Ohio State and naming Alabama his leader during the dead period. But after skipping an official visit to Alabama last weekend and instead showing up on campus at Georgia it's pretty clear that he's headed to Athens to play his college ball.

Prediction: Georgia
