"a one game elimination tourney isn't a great way to see how good a team is or isn't"

the nba playoffs have series which have great sports drama and it's unlikely the better team won't win. baseball and hockey have series. football doesn't but i'm not sure it's comparable because of the difference in the sports. so, what exactly is the value of the tourney? is a series the only way to determine the true champ?

I like single elimination. Everyone is put on an even playing field when it's just one game. The NBA system is overkill.

The best team doesn't always win the tournament, but,as a spectator, it's perfect.

Why would we want to make an awful tournament worse?

There's nothing to do about it. They won't get rid of it or alter it besides expansion.

Look...I have plenty to complain about with the NBA playoffs, but it does the best job of any sport, pro or college, in crowning the best team. Hockey and baseball series can be flukes, but put 2 basketball teams out there for 7 games and the best team is going to win.

Nothing beats March Madness though. The best team may not always win, but it is very exciting.
