You can just ask

No offense cornhat, but that is ridiculous.

First of all NO ONE, not even the famous self-depreciating Ole Miss fans, just comes clean with good information on the Rant. The way this place is designed you always have your guard up. Even without that element, like I met you in a bar, you might still be hesitant to let me see dirty laundry that only the fanbase really knows about. That is why I engage in constant mental manipulation.

The second problem with "just asking" is that UF fans BARELY post on this forum, and when yall do it is a small post. Seriously, go look at another UF thread and you will find one single-sentence post after another. Yall have the brevity of a Bama fan, without the lack of intelligence to explain the need for brevity. I have my own theory- you UF fans feel you are above the SEC. Sure sure you carry the banner when you have to, but between the rare (for the SEC) AAU membership, the overall good AD, and the Yankee local base you also have one foot out the door on the south. It seems all the irrational passion for football in your state got put into FSU fans, and that you UF fans are only willing to tolerate this lowbrow hobby when it is going good for you. That would explain the one word answers, and why yall are barely on here despite being the permanent rival of the primary team that drives this forum.

Maybe I am wrong though, maybe UF is the one program in the entire south that is willing to let me look under the sheets for just saying the magic word. Here are some starter questions, but if you don't want to answer please don't deflect as it only proves my point:

-Do y'all feel if Foley knew McElwain had that crazy $7 million buyout he would have still pursued him?

-Follow up question if no: If Foley wouldn't have been caught in the livingroom of McElwain by the press do yall think he would have backed out when he learned the buy-out? Like if it was all in secret.

-I got a feeling that McElwain didn't even know he was locked in with such a huge buyout. Am I correct in your opinion?

-Most of the time "destination" jobs are the last major stop in college for a college coach- either you flop so hard you are at a mid major or you do so well the NFL hires you. Yet in the last month-ish we have watched one former UF coach win a title, and another was seen as the biggest splash hire of the SEC offseason. Heck, even Spurrier didn't take up his old visor after the NFL. What is it about UF that makes it such an unstable place for coaches in your opinion?

FINAL MEGA BONUS ROUND:

-UF has watched FSU turn into what is easily the most corrupt program in college football. I personally think the police department defending their QB is worse than anything Miami did. Does it make yall nevious to have such a loose cannon (in such a weak conference) going off in your state? Do yall have some plan, via investigative reporting or some political power play, to bring them back to a level playing field?

I have about five more questions like that I would love to ask a UF fan, but we have to start somewhere after years of pent upness.

OK, I'm going to say this, and what's scary is that it's not an exaggeration... but you may be the dumbest poster on the entire rant.

Congratulations and up vote.

Now that I've gotten that off my chest, I'll try to answer your ridiculous questions just because I'm bored...

1. If you believe that Jeremy Foley, a major Athletic Director walked into that living room without some idea about the buy out, then I don't even know what to say. You probably believe the lunar landing was faked.

2. You think McElwain didn't know he had a buyout? Seriously? LIKE ARE YOU frickING SERIOUS?

3. I don't see how it is that unstable. It just seems that way right now because UF has had some serious bad coaching for about 5 years now and has a lot of turnover in their assistants in that time. No one thought it was unstable back in 2009 and had Muschamp been successful and not a total failure, he probably would have stayed for many many years.

4. OMG! WHAT IS FLORIDA GOING TO DO! FSU IS GOOD AND THEY'VE NEVER BEEN GOOD BEFORE!!!?!?!?! Oh wait... that's right, FSU was in the top 5 for like 15 years in a row in the 80's and 90's, which you would know if you were older than 16. And I guess UF sucked then too and couldn't do anything to stop it... oh wait... UF won the SEC during that same stretch 4 times in a row one time and basically dominated the SEC during the 90's? FSU has ALWAYS been dirty. They are called the criminoles for a reason. Sometimes it works for them, sometimes not. Not really worried about it. Do you know why they are called Free Shoes U? Probably not.

Absolutely he knew. Everyone on Florida message boards knew, so I'm pretty darn sure he had to know. I believe Foley strongly believes in up and coming coaches (Billy D home run). I really think he saw the same thing in Boom (big mistake), and now coach Mac. Just observing the way Mac has made his coaching staff hires makes me think we are in good hands. We will see.

Urban's leaving the program has been discussed. Muschamp was fired THANK GOD. There is a lot of pressure to win at FL. I think the OBC was young enough at the time he let the pressure get to him, and left. I don't think he was offered the job back when Zook left.

I really doesn't make me nervous. Miami imploded after years of Shapiro. FSU will have to pay for it's transgressions. The woman who alleges Winston raped her is now suing FSU. There is a second woman now making claims as well. Someone will eventually talk. And recruits who are willing to go to FSU because they know their transgressions will get covered are not the kind of recruits I personally want at UF. Recruits from good families will prefer UF over FSU. Mac understands that he needs to recruit FL first- something Boom was too stupid to realize. I believe our recruiting should greatly improved. The coaches hired are great recruiters.

I hope that helps.

This is just one fan's opinion, I have no insider info:

I think so. Football and basketball (to a lesser extent) fund the rest of the program as well as the academic institution. The best available hire needed to be made.

I don't think so but it's a surprise that the hire wasn't discreet. UFAA and Foley are generally conservative and secretive. But that 7mil must have given him the sweats. He's a great money manager so a figure like that

You would think when signing a contract he would've known, right? I think he might have miscalculated the negotiation of the buyout regarding the 'dream job' clause in his contract.

I don't think that's fair. Spurrier went to the NFL. Meyer had a bunch of issues at Gainesville that made him want to leave. Some of those issues are things he had a direct hand in. Muschamp and Zook would have stayed, but they weren't any good.

No, but I'll say that a lot of the paranoid FSU fans think UF controls the politics and media of the state and is responsible for the leak of info about their PD and university. I don't know if their program is as dirty as everyone makes it out to be but I can't say I hate it as a UF fan.

Problem is, the state of our offense has been pretty poor during Muschamp's era. This fanbase is used to high powered offenses. The recruiting class is pretty sparse ATM but if the current coaching staff can develop players better than previous years, that will be A-OK.
