I read his statement... He is opening up his choices and would like to be "highly recruited". What a douchey thing to say.

Yup. He'll be replaced soon enough.

So... Pruitt goes into Saban's office and says "Listen here little man, I have more defensive knowledge in my left nut than you do in your entire midget body, now stay the hell away from my defense." Yeah that sounds like something Saban would be okay with.

No. But you meddle with a Coordinator only if he is inexperienced. Why would Saban need/want a Pruitt, if he is going to run the defense anyway?

quote:

Whoever Kirby hires as DC will have to accept him as a mentor, similar to how Saban was Kirby's mentor.

ONLY if he hires someone who is inexperienced and needs "mentoring". If he hires an experienced DC, Smart would be wise to keep his hands off except in extreme circumstances.

Why you, or anyone on here thinks a HC is going to bring in an experienced coordinator and then try to tell him what to do is beyond me. And why you or anyone on here thinks an experienced coordinator would allow that is beyond me.

Can you honestly see Pruitt taking a back seat to ANYBODY and let them tell him how to do their job?

This is not a we should have kept richt or anything of that nature post. Kirby is known as a great recruiter and I think we will continue to bring in top ranked players. For this class though, I am very curious to see the difference each coach makes on this class. Using the 247 composite, Georgia was ranked 3rd at the time richt was let go and Miami was ranked 18th. With the 2 players decommitting so far, we are down to 9 but have lots of space left to add more.

And bringing Kirby on board probably makes some higher profile targets more attainable.

For fun you should add in Ben Davis and Mack Wilson and see how far we jump?

We lost 6 spots based on two commits, one of whom was a three-star?

It's an interesting thing to do. See which direction each of the programs go. However, sometimes it's not what you have in the class so much as what you do with that class. Which of the coaches will get the most out of their respective classes. only time will tell us that.

You would be stretching it a bit to think either of those are coming to UGA, much less both of them.

We'll be ok, though. Smart will bring some in....and we will lose some.

Rankings are by total points and there were a bunch of teams right behind us. Landing one of the big fish (Nauta, for instance) would put us back in 3rd. We also have the 3rd highest avg rating.

We also have the lowest number of commits out of the entire top 15 in those rankings. We will move back towards the top in due time. For instance, Florida is barely ranked ahead of us, and they have 25 total commits to our 15.

How so? Ben Davis named UGA his leader and in an interview with both of them they said they could both end up at UGA. Guess I was just reading that too straightforward? Wilson pushed back his commitment ceremony to take an official to UGA now that Smart is here. Davis has family around Athens/Atlanta.

Davis also said Bama is a very very close second and he is a legacy. His dad is the leading tackler in Bama history. Pulling him away from Bama would be epic however.
