Let's talk about how large of a difference just losing the DC/OL/WR coaches made

Or was it the loss of Trickett that doomed WV from the start? Their QB looked like a white Swopes out there.

No he didn't. He played good enough to win but made some errors, no different than Allen throwing a pick six.

Meh, I didn't get to start watching until midway through the second quarter, but from what I could see, Howard was overthrowing receivers a lot. With more accurate passing he would have torched us.
Howard went 20-45 for 346 yards. Yes, the 346 yards looks nice, but he was less than 50% completion rate, and that wasn't due to drops.

Our LB played better than they did in every game since SC.
Our DB on the other hand...

He had his moments and he had some bad moments. Over throw after over throw. We could not defend the long ball and he stopped throwing it. We really shut down their run game which put too much pressure on him and our DL pinned their ears back got more pressure on him in the 2nd half.

We really shut down their run game

We you are used to get pounded by big physical, powerful, explosive SEC run games, WVU's is a little bit easier. It also seemed like we were putting more guys on islands in the secondary and had more guys in the box. Don't know if that's true or not, but I just happen to notice it a few times. It helped to spy on the QB in the 2nd as well. It really limited his scrambling.

this
The WVU alum in the booth didn't really seem to understand that having a good run game and run D in the Big 12 means jack shite when the opponent had to go up against Bama, Auburn, LSU, Miss St, Ole Miss, and Mizzou all throughout the year.
WVU was basically USCe (who also had issues w/overthrowing open WRs). We had more overall talent on the field than they did and it became obvious as they wore down during the game. Hell, if not for the pick 6 keeping it closer than it should have been I don't think they would have even had the fight left in them to get that late score.

Completely agree.
