I don't like the gumps or their dynasty, and want Oregon to win it, but nothing is black and white. Alabama winning promotes the SEC dominance narrative. It' as simple as that. In their presumptive 4 national titles, they would only win the SEC 3 times, and aside from the Oklahoma game, all their losses were to SEC programs. "SEC dominance" is a narrative that sits in the hearts and minds of recruits, and as the SEC brand branches out from regional to national, it only perpetuates that.

Come on man.. It's been almost 3 years.. Stop melting over 21-0... It is what it is.

Never really got into the whole "SEC pride" thing, seems silly to me. IMHO the Pac-12 south was just as strong as the SEC West this year.
Also in terms of the whole money aspect..... Yes the extra million is nice, but I doubt any school is in debt in this conference, and it's not like any school will go under if we all lose our bowl game. You think any school in the B1G is going to close their doors forever if all the teams lose this year?
That said I'll cheer for a team of their win helps Alabama's resume (except Auburn), if they're ever the underdog (except Auburn) or if I just generally like the team (except Auburn, LSU, and UT), but not because of conference pride.

Since the hogs joined the conference 20 years ago, Alabama has beat us at the same clip Tejas did. Yet, I dont have the same hatred toward them as I did toward the sips. I dont think their arrogance approaches that of you know who. Therefore, I have no problem with Bama being the big boy of our conference because its more of a benign dominence by comparison, and someone has to take that role and since the hogs will never be at that level, I'm just as content with the gumps in that role as I would be Auburn,LSU or Florida.

Well Bama just made $6 million for the SEC since we are in the playoffs.

The SEC going to and winning national titles helps perpetuate the notion the SEC is the best conference. That's why a one loss SEC team jumped an undefeated team.
Good point. Perception is key when a group of 13 people are choosing the final four.
For the record, though, I think the Pac12 could come out on top this year. If you look at their bowl schedule and the way Oregon has been playing, they have a very good shot this year.
