REAL "Elephant in the Room" Re: CFP Committe (Why 6 teams minimum has to happen)

Notre Dame will be the biggest thorn in the side of the committee once they are good again because an undefeated or 1 loss ND will leave out TWO conference champs with the current format!
We have already seen how a "Blue Blood" will never be left out if they are in the mix. 6 teams would be a perfect fit with all 5 conference champs guaranteed in plus one at large spot. Just give the top 2 teams bye weeks. Makes too much sense.
With the current format, one conference champ is guaranteed to be left out every single year which makes absolutely no sense....

And therein lies the rub.

Nobody loves a good conspiracy theory like an LSU fan

The real issue isn't that they took OSU over TCU or Baylor. It's that they took the easy way out and put OSU in so they didn't have to deal with the TCU and Baylor head to head issue.

Given the likelihood on any given Saturday that a player can be injured resulting in being out for at least a week, this would be unfair to teams 3-6. Even if players just get banged up and aren't at 100% the following week.

I'd rather go to 8 than 6, but I think 4 is perfect

Pre-1998 teams just went to whatever bowl game their conference was tied into and the polls decided the champion. Other major bowl game winners complained.
With the BCS, the top 2 played for the title. #3 complained.
Now with a 4 team playoff, team #5 complains.
If you move it to 6 teams, #7 will complain. Just like with an 8 teamer, #9 will complain.
Someone is ALWAYS going to complain by just barely missing the cut. It's how life works.

Does not have to happen at all...
Your post just shows you do not understand the reasons behind the CFP in the first place.
# 1 Allow the B1G and PAC seats at the table and protect the Rose Bowl brand
For years they have pushed the value of the Rose Bowl but since the SEC and the B12 moved to 12 teams and had CCG's it pushed back the value of the Rose Bowl as no longer providing MNC's since only the B1G and PAC played in it.
# 2 Allow the BIG a seat back into the MNC title discussion
With only the Bucknuts getting in in the past decade or so and then getting humiliated by the SEC the B1G (with lots of living alumni and lots of eyeballs for advertisers) was getting left in the dust. If you are trying to sell the BTN across the USA to advertisers and no team is on the national radar it gets hard to sell the ad space.
# 3 Validate the dollars spent by the media companies for the rights fees they pay to broadcast CCG's
If media companies are shelling out 20 - 40 million per year to broadcast each CCG they want a reason folks should tune in and make the advertisers happy. If the B12 or Notre Dame don't play in such a game then folks will tune out and that will cost somebody some money. Advertisers are not happy when folks don't watch.
# 4 The CCG's are intended to become the defacto "1st round" of the playoff
This way you already have a built in 8 team playoff that excludes Gang of 5 schools so the Power 5 schools don't have to split the money pie with them. It is pretty obvious when you look at it yet people still refuse to accept it. The B12 refused to believe it and now they have seen first hand that their way of thinking will not fly with so much money on the line. Long term Notre Dame will probably join the ACC as they already have 5 yearly contractual games and they are ACC members for all their other sports. With the current setup you have 4 CCG's for 4 playoff spots and 2 alternates (Notre Dame and B12 school) if a favorite or 2 loses their CCG.
It is the perfect setup and should be the long term resolution until the B12 adds 2 more schools OR they dissolve.

Isn't it a little early for LSU fans to melt about Notre Dame?

B12 was punished for not having a conference championship game. ND should be punished for not being in a conference period.
Make them join the B10/ACC. Problem solved.

You either want a playoff or you don't...if you want a playoff, you need 16 teams, minimum. The conf champs and then allow the selection committee to pick at large.
Cut season back by two games, get rid of all the bullshite LSU v Sam Houston like games.
All non power conference conferences go back down to the 1-AA.
I personally want the BCS format, but if you want a playoff, you have to enlarge the field, you could even cut back the champ games and allow the power 5 to have each division represented...that would save a week.
