I think everyone knows Derek Barnett is a better true freshman DE than Garrett.

That's a pretty accurate characterization of our current passing game, but playing for LSU didn't hurt guys like Landry, Hill, Beckham, etc, etc...

The kid has double digit sacks in the SEC as a true freshman.

Probably one of the more misleading stats in the SEC this year. 8 of his 11 sacks came against Rice, ULM and Lamar.

Obviously he's no slouch but he only has 3 sacks in SEC play.

Garrett is the best player on A&M's team. He got owned by a talented and very much more experienced OL tonight. Speedy is talented but won't be anything special in the long run. He is too obsessed with weed and LSU.

Dude's a baller, but he's young. He'll get better and when the light turns on he'll be dominant. However, he will never amount to what he should in college simply because those around him, including his coaches ( unless the regime changes ), will let him down. If another team can focus on him, then he will be doubled and pancaked all 3/4 years he's at A&M. If he was on a decent defense, the opposing offense would not be able to focus on him and he would really become something special.

Garret would have been my second pick behind LF in the class.

Yep, kid is a good pass rusher, you cant teach a kid to be a natural pass rusher.

We sorely lacked one this year.

Same thing we did to Clowney a few years ago...run it right at him and make him make tough decisions on what to do. Put the pressure on him. Don't let him chase the play and be disruptive and pressure us. Shove it right down his throat. That's the way to beat any great D Lineman.

The gameplan was amazing.

Definitely didn't help that he was coming off an injury, but he looked out of place the majority of the night.
He will be a FORCE if he figures out gap responsibility on run plays.

Myles will be much much better in 2015 after an offseason of training table meals and weight room workouts.
