MSU has better wins in my opinion at this point than TCU
Name them.
TCU has beaten more top 25 teams than Mississippi State. Both State and TCU lost to the number 5 team in the nation. TCU only lost by 3 though.
So given those facts, and assuming both teams win out and TCU wins their conference, there's no way you can put State in over them. There's no logical reason to. Unless you like to say "Oh the SEC is the greatest ever! They deserve two teams in!"
Which the committee won't do.

Eh Genro makes a good point there. People can't bitch about an all SEC NC game if both SEC teams beat other conferences in the semi final. An all SEC NC game would have and equal chance as a no SEC NC game.

I think they would not like to have an all SEC final.

TCU has beaten Oklahoma, Kansas State and West Virginia, but also struggled to beat Kansas last week. Only loss to Baylor
Miss State has beaten Auburn, LSU and Texas A&M. Only loss to Alabama.
TCU has better wins. Miss St has better loss (but not by much). TCU struggling against Kansas may hurt them this week. But they get to play a resurgent Texas team in two weeks. That will be their only chance to get in top 4 if Baylor wins out, and it would be a long shot at that. I see they also play Iowa St on Dec 6...they will need to kick the crap out of Iowa State.

If we assume the committee is against a rematch, they're screwed either way - guarantee a rematch in the semi or set up a possible rematch in the finals.
So maybe they'll just rank them straight-up.

All things being equal, does the final game bring in more $$$$ than both semifinals combined?
If you're going to have an all-SEC ratings clunker, does it really matter where it is?
Serious question

Agree.

That it did. But you can't forget that State also had to have a late interception to seal the deal against a 4 win Arkansas team at home to win 17-10. Then they returned a late onside kick attempt to beat a 5 win Kentucky team by 14. Not disagreeing with your point, just pointing out that State has been less than stellar against much weaker competition as well.

I think the committee will look favorably on close wins over Arkansas. Arkansas actually has a decent composite computer ranking for a 5-loss team.
And Kentucky had a pulse earlier in the season.

Well MSU still has Ole Miss on the schedule. All things considered and everyone wins out, then MSU will have the better wins, the better loss, and will have thumped the teams they were supposed to thump. MSU hasn't really squeaked by in their wins the way TCU has on two occasions.

We shall see.
Hell... watch State and TCU both lose one more game and none of this argument matters.

No they didn't. They struggled against two teams they should have dominated.

There's always craziness at the end of the season.

would love to see TCU and Baylor both lose another game. And Ohio State lose one more. And Oregon lose again. And what if Alabama would also lose to Georgia/Mizzou...would be a shite-show...

I want this to happen so bad.

We could be in for a serious conundrum if that happens. In fairness, you'd have to let 3 SEC teams in or keep them all out

No, don't see Mississippi state getting a mulligan. Only applies to Bama. I don't see any other teams getting in if Moo st loses, as the East is weak.
