Maybe it's due to the fact that I've only been to Athens once (last year for LSU/UGA), but I thought everyone was incredibly friendly there and my experience was very positive. A random UGA girl on campus (attractive I might add, seemed to be alot of good looking girls in Athens) asked my friend and I if we needed help finding our way around (we were both wearing purple and gold). UGA fans invited my friend and I to their tailgate, shared booze, etc. even though we were in LSU gear.

Something tells me they are leaving key parts out of the story. I'd be willing to guess they were drunk and instigating things. It seems pretty unlikely all of these things happen to them if they are minding their own business.

Dawgs, why are you treating your west Georgia in-state rivals with such disdain?

We went and had no real issues, and I've admittedly had a handful of issues before.

Some AU friends I know said it got a little dicey at the bars afterwards, but it was more just a ton of really really drunk people than any specific type of animosity. FWIW my UGA friends with them said they also felt a little edgy about how drunk everyone was, which isn't uncommon in Athens for a night game.

The only thing that annoyed us was when our mixed group could not get service at South Kitchen (old Capital Room). An Auburn guy a the bar (hardly drinking, very reserved) told me while we were waiting that the main bartender was just refusing to serve Auburn people. We eventually talked to someone managing the place, and after the guy was thoroughly berated by one of our UGA girls, things got better. If it were up to me I would have told the hipster bartender we'd take our several hundred bucks elsewhere, but the cold and crowds kept us there.

Tolerance for "we don't serve yall, hahaha" is whatever, but some fricking grungy bartender who doesn't know UGA's record just outright ignoring people really got under my skin.

But anyway, like I said, no real problems.
