Oh my god, I WISH this were true. Of all the "big" SEC schools, our fans are the least fiery. It's a chore to get people to stand up and cheer for the team half the time. Then I got grandma behind me in her wheelchair asking me to sit down because she can't see. Where are these spirited spitters when we need them? They're not in Sanford; that's for sure.

Made up. I have no doubt people talked shite to him, and I could see that there could have been isolated occurrences of bottle throwing and maybe spitting. However, there is no way that one group of fans had all that happen to them in one weekend.

I've personally never seen an opposing fan get spit on, so I have a lot of trouble believing it happened to this particular fan 20+ times.

I have never had a problem at UGA, in fact it is my favorite road trip. I wasn't able to make the trip this year but I heard from several people that they have never seen it so hostile there. These are people that have never had a problem there but did this year.

I am sure that this letter was exaggerated but I'm not sure by how much.

You Georgia fans have to know that story is complete bullshite.

You should know better. Coming from an Auburn fan lol. Auburn "people" will stoop to any level to achieve a desired outcome. I mean, these people eat mayonnaise sandwiches for God's sake.

Ironic! By far, the worst treatment I've ever received was at Jordan-Hare! By far! That said, War Eagle/Tiger/Plainsmen beat Bama!

I've been to Athens several times. Sounds totally full of shite. Auburn melt/whiney bitching because they got their arse spanked. I mean they probably did deal with a few drunk assholes, but no way it was as frequent as all that.

I have been in attendance at many, many home games as a UGA student and fan. I have been attending games at Sanford since I was 5 years old. Do we have some rowdy fans? Yes. More than any other school? Probably not, about par for the SEC course. Will some people bark at you? Unfortunately, yes. However I have never seen ANYONE spit on or at someone else. I've seen a LOT of shite talking and, on occasion, it's boiled over to a fight. I can also tell you that whenever I've seen someone from our fan base take things too far for no good reason, particularly when women are present, there have been plenty of other UGA fans who shout the a-hole down. I'm calling bullshite on this one.

I have seen Ole Miss play UGA in Sanford Stadium probably five or six times in my life. EVERY time has always been a great experience and I've enjoyed the UGA fans immensely. I'm calling BS on this story.

UGA fans hate Auburn more than any other team. They see AU with Two BCSNC Appearances in the last 5 years and it just underlines their underachieving. Their only retort is to take about how many time they have beaten AU the last few years, but nothing hurts them more than AU with a NC.

Since their last NC: Bama, AU, UT, UF, Clemson, FSU and LSU have all won National Championships. It kills them to think another year has come and gone.P.S And GT.

I think it's just an overreaction to something small that might have happened and his date got scared. Now he is trying to score some points with her.

Every stadium has a few shitty fans. But no way on a grand scale like this.

Auburn band members used to talk about getting spit on all the time as they marched down to go into the stadium in Athens. Can confirm this type of crap happened on Saturday

Bull shite I sat right behind the Auburn Band and did not see anyone doing anything besides some people talking shite. The guy beside my wife and I was pretty drunk and as the AU fans started to leave in the 3rd quarter he started saying shite to them. after a couple of time I finally told him to chill out and have some respect.

Same way everyone whines after they lose. I'm just amazed people took a break from kicking old women down stairs to actually spit on the guy that wrote the letter. Maybe they were able to multitask?

It really is funny how it's always the losing fans that start this up though. I'm sure a few people talked shite to them but that's just what happens on road games. But having countless numbers of people spit on you.... at least make it believable man. Sounds like someone slipped the guy some doses and he was getting bukaked and didn't wanna fess up.

I've only been to Athens once - UGA - GT game. Never saw any issues between tech and UGA fans. Saw a bunch of dawg on dawg fights. I think they just get overly drunk and like to fight each other. It was an extremely Red environment. I think there are just sections of tailgating areas and seats that can lead to good or bad experience. Do some research - find out where you should go - before the game. Don't go to a bar that is hostile - there are usually bars that are more and chill and actually like seeing folks from other schools. Just google it.

One more thing - just film your experience. Its not that hard.

Yea I agree. A big part of road games too is just acting like a normal person and not being a jackass (not a bad strategy for home games either). I've been to UGA-Auburn in Auburn and had to go by myself until I was able to meet up with friends at the stadium and didn't have a single problem. I don't really give a shite if someone yells 'war eagle' or something at me, that's the fun of football.

One thing I've always liked about UGA-Auburn is that it's usually one of the more enjoyable fan base interactions for me. Plenty of Auburn friends that are good people (it's so surprising that generalizations based on message boards and random anonymous letters on reddit aren't accurate ).

And to the poster who claims his kid was kicked down the steps. I've found you the security footage.

I will say that if someone goes to a game wearing a GoPro or some shite trying to entice people and catch stuff on film, they might be the biggest pussy I've ever heard of.

Just go to the game. Be a normal person. Have fun.

30 years ago UGA was the nicest place to visit. UGA was my second favorite team. Things changed, the rivalry is more heated. Soldier boy, Fairly, Auburn 3 undefeated seasons, one NC, UGA always losing to Florida, UGA fans trashing there own campus.

However, story seems over the top. Did have one fan outside the stadium and one fan inside the stadium act like a drunken jerk. See that everywhere.

Still, based on my last 5 trips each to LSU, UGA and BAMA. UGA is the worse. LSU fans rag on you, but good natured (talk to them and they offer you food and a drink), Bama fans are jerks, UGA fans want to fight.

30 years ago AU turned water cannons on UGA fans who wanted to celebrate on the field at JHS. I've been to games in Athens with AU fans, as well as fans of other schools, and I've never seen ONE case of fan abuse by UGA fans. AU fans seem a little butt hurt over the fact that 1) they couldn't get into UGA so they had to fall back on AU 2) Auburn is nowhere near the college town that Athens is 3) they just got beat like a rented mule for the 3rd year out of 4 by the red and black. Whining won't make the pain any less, Aubies.
