Who have made the trip to see their team play at Missouri?
Never thought about it until now, but how is the atmosphere and tailgating?
Would you ever go back?
ETA: I guess the real question is, does it feel like an SEC game when you go?

Atmosphere is mediocre. Tailgating is meh. Better fit in the Big 10.

pretty good. Not the best, but not bad. Just like any campus..depends on where you are. There's some areas right outside the stadium that are pretty fun. Just gotta buddy up with some people and have them take you in.

Certainly, but it would depend on the game. I went in 2012 because it was the first one. But for me it's a plane ride to St.Louis (had layovers there and back), car rental, 2 hour drive to columbia, 2 night hotel stay, etc. That's a hell of a lot to do every other year.
But I would definitely recommend going, if for no other reason that to check another SEC stadium off your list.

I graduated in 2009, I don't know how much it has changed but when I was leaving the School Board was severely hampering tail gating. They went so far as to close multiple areas because of "excessive" drinking. I've been out of state/overseas since then so I couldn't tell you if it's returned to it's pre-2008 form or if it's gotten worse.

Atmosphere and tailgating were below par. Compared to the rest of the league, campus and tailgating was pretty dead til about 1030 the day of a 230 CBS game. It was pretty weak. Although to be fair the weather was miserable that day, but it didn't hit until the game started. And yea of course I'd go back, I go anywhere for our games. It is a bitch of a trip to make though.

I'm guessing you are a Bama fan? The weather was going to be atrocious that day and the team sucked.
I agree, that game sucked. It's usually much better than that.

It's about the same. I much prefer to go to the bars pre game, but tailgating is obviously quite a bit cheaper.

Yea. Personally I had a great time, but like I said gameday was pretty bleh. I figure weather played a part.

I'm not sure when State gets them but I have family in southern Missouri so I will for sure consider going.

As a Chiefs fan (tailgate mecca), I'm the first to admit that Mizzou's tailgating needs a lot of work. I have to say though, that game you were at was the worst Gameday atmosphere I've ever seen in columbia. Impending bad weather, our team was horrible, and we were about to get steamrolled by the best team in the country. I assure you our tailgating, while not great, is better than what you saw.

It's actually a Thursday night game next season. Probably a really bad example of tailgating and hard for you to get out of work.

Y'all play @ Mizzou next year

When the hell did we play South Alabama? I think you've never been

They were cutting down on ridiculous areas of tailgating. Listen I love a drink as much as the next guy and certainly haven't forgotten what it was like to be a college kid but there were college kids passed out on the ground and topless girls before the game even started. (Don't get me wrong topless coeds certainly doesn't sound unappealing but I'm pretty sure any administration at a university is going to shut that down)
The adult lots were and always will be fine. (Even for excessive drinking :-) )

Welcome to the board, I suppose you're new.

Didn't realize it was next season and a Thursday may prevent me from going. Guess I will have to wait until it cycles back around.

It's pretty good but the big issue is how everything is spread out. There are 15ish lots that aren't all close to one another. I'm usually in line at 6am waiting for the lots to open at 8. There's usually a bunch of people waiting in line to get in by the time the lots open. If you like drinking, food and sluts, you'll have a good time at Mizzou.

I agree. It definitely was for that game. It's usually a lot better than that.
I've been to a few different SEC venues. I really couldn't find a discernible difference in tailgating. It's tailgating.
Their are definitely better stadiums though (and worse). Some of the stadiums hold 20-30k more people and are better designed to hold noise in. Our stadium has a LONG way to go. I wish we would have built a new one, but they are going the upgrade route.

That way you can bring your grandkids.

Atmosphere was fine and tailgating was good. Nothing to write home about, but not bad at all. We were their 1st SEC game and they were the nicest people I've ever met because they wanted to be accepted so badly at the time. They made like 2,000 jello shots for the UGA fans to feel welcome. They were so nice it didn't feel like an SEC game at the time, but I'm sure they've adjusted to us. Campus was great IMO. Definitely recommend walking through it.

Would you ever go back?
Absolutely. The 12 hour drive isn't preferable, but it was one of the most fun road games I've ever been to (and I've been to a lot over the last 5 years.)
