OLE MISS TURF

My rant for today is about the field at Ole Miss. If you are a member of the SEC, then you have enough money to grow and maintain decent field turf that will give a little under pressure and not break the players' ankles. First it was Kenyan Drake, then this past Saturday it was one of Ole Miss' own players L. Treadwell and the only reason they both were severely injured in my opinion was that stupid rug turf they have over there. No one uses that crap anymore just for this reason. I think the SEC needs to DEMAND they go to natural turf over there or get fined until they comply. I feel like these kids were both injured needlessly, and it needs to stop right now. I hope no one else is injured on that crap before this season is over, and I really hope they make them change it before next season. That's all I got today.

I have absolutely no evidence to support your claim but I support your claim. Honestly, it just looks better too.....unless you're Tennessee and don't know how to maintain grass.

Has there ever been research done to show that this field turf actually does have a higher occurrence of injuries? I played on the stuff in High School and didn't see a whole lot of injuries.

I thought the injury was related more to the horse collar and the targeting finishing move. Maybe the sec should fine for that instead

Field turf is artificial and that is what they have. How can you grow an artificial surface?

Neither one of those injuries occured becuse of the turf. The other factors would have caused both of those injuries as well. Yes, older styles of turf cause more injuries (the newer ones are almost on par with grass) that is not the style on injuries that are caused by turf.

What about Mizzou, Vandy and UK (aren't yall switching next year)? How about every SEC program including Bama having turf practice fields?

They need to hire someone from the MSU turf management program. I am sure they could fix that right up!

It's just a second rate high school stadium.

SEC may take action if some BAMA players get hurt by turf. Until then, forget it.

The south endzone doesn't get enough sunlight and grass is impossible to grow there. Turf hasn't been the cause of any injuries this year. Please list all injuries in Oxford that could have been prevented on grass.

Hey you moron, did you know that we had a guy break his leg at LSU? Did our turf cause that?
There are truly some stupid people in this world. I don't know in what universe that someone jumping down on someone's leg and breaking it is the fault of the playing surface.

He was drug down backwards and his leg couldn't handle the pressure. It had nothing to do with the turf. It's football. People get hurt. DWI.

Mile High in Denver...the new Mile High, has a hybrid of field turf and real grass that grows intertwines with the artificial turf.

LT's injury had more to do with the tackle than it did with the turf.

Unless the injury is related to making a cut or planting and getting stuck, I don't see how it can be associated with the turf.
I seem to remember someone landing on Drake. Neither his nor Treadwell's injuries were related to the turf IMO.

Dumbass. The turf didn't cause Treadwell's injury.
He was getting pulled down by his jersey and his ankle was pinned under the tackler.

I am with you. I hate our turf. It looks shitty and causes more injuries.
No brainer to me. All turf looks shitty to me.
Arkansas' always looks bad as well. Looks wet all the time.
