I contract about 30 reps under me. Many are previous pharma. It's a grind, but if you stand out, the opportunities are abound. I deal in services and products, not pharma.
Pharma companies are very strict on their reps and it's harder and harder to bribe errrrrrrrrrrrrrrr do cool things to get to know docs. Lol

Inviting them out to conferences at expensive restaurants where they don't have to pay for anything works

So you are actually selling the linked program? Smooth spam job bro.

Yes it is. I'll start you at the bottom...you move 5 keys a week and I'll give you some startup cash. You can work your way up the ladder if you prove to be trustworthy

I am wondering if there is any catch.
Don't you ever try to frick me over. I'll bury you in a corn field. Other than that, possibility of jail time but I got connections

Former pharma rep with 15+ years experience.
Used to be a fantastic industry now the jobs are hard to come by and it is not stable at all. Everyone I know that has worked as a pharma rep has been laid off/downsized at least once.
I wouldn't take another PCP rep job - specialty sales or tech, yes but not unless I did my homework on the stability of the company.
And you are being taken for a ride if someone is telling you that you need any kind of certification.

Damn, did I try to be helpful to some spamming troll?
Then, YES, you totally need to be certified.

Thank you for your answer. That seems to be the consensus. Likely on to graduate school for me then.
And no, I am not spamming anything. Literally nothing to gain by posting about a certification I learned about yesterday

If you're serious then look into medical sales. More stability and more money but difficult to break into. Oh yeah, that certification is BS.

Every doctor I know HATES pharmaceutical sales reps. That's about all I know. The field isn't as glamorous as it used to be back when they pretty much had carte blanche to wine and dine doctors as they pleased. That's been heavily curtailed.
The whole idea of a pharmaceutical companies needing reps to sell their drugs to doctors always seemed kind of shady to me. Sure, doctors need to keep abreast of new drugs out there, but why does the maker of Crestor need to keep selling their product to doctors? I would think doctors know enough about the drugs and their patients to know which drug is right for each patient. But maybe I'm being naive.

This link has a list of the pharmaceutical companies.
Many of these have an online application for employment. company listing
Online applying is probably due to someone filing a suit that they did not get an interview due to race, creed, color, sexual preference, gender identification, mother's maiden name, or football team allegiance.
This link goes to Merck career opportunities. You should find most companies have a similar listing. LINK
Just google any of the companies to get their web site.
Small companies are really enjoyable. I started with a small company bought by a medium company then bought by a large company. Good luck.
PS I picked Merck because I know how it is spelled.

If you have large breasts and are a former cheerleader or other female athlete, you will do well in this market.

Are you a very attractive female?
If so, this may possibly be the job for you.
If not, please realize this is a field for attractive females only.
No, it isn't stable these days. Used to be, but not anymore. Many massive layoffs lately.
Source: my wife is a pharmacist and they come by her pharmacy even though they're not supposed to. Some of her friends are reps or former reps. Yes, they're hot. No, I don't get to touch.
