Everything but the last sentence in the OP was a grind attempt.

No, don't get me wrong. I had a blast in Lexington. Just giving my thoughts.

Parking lots > cow pastures.

It is a good time as doing the weekend usually involves trips to nearby distilleries - Woodford Reserve is the next county over and an easy drive from Keeneland. As long as you are already on that road, Frankfort is the next city and several distilleries there as well. If you want to go off the beaten path veer left heading to Woodford Reserve on the BG Parkway and it takes you straight to Bardstown, Several very good distilleries in that area.
If you prefer ale, several craft breweries have sprouted in the area since the 1980's

OP, stop being so grumpy and enjoy your successful year in football.

Yet you did not say which bars you visited. This makes it seem more like a troll who had not actually been there.

Lexington is awesome. But its a real town. You have to have a plan if you want to make the most if it. Its not a tiny town like starkville or oxford where you cab just show up and wing it and still hit all the good stuff.

We went to Tin Roof before the game and Two Keys after.
Posted on 10/26/14 at 1:25 pm to bulldogfan10
The real bars are downtown. The "bar scene" as it were. Those are just two bars that happen to be ajacent to campus.

First off, your tailgating is miserable. There is nothing but parking lots around the stadium.
Well, it is a stadium. There are tailgating areas withing walking distance of the stadium, but you have to look for them.

The guy clearly didn't do his research or have anyone to show him around.

Tin Roof
A converted Huddle House or some such and a parking lot maybe 10 - 15 years ago. Not representative

Two Keys
Was a top bar in the USA back when Henry owned it. Since then it has had multiple owners and has gone downhill. Trading on their old glory days.
You were north campus and all those dorms are new or still under construction. If you had gone a few blocks down you would have hit some good spots downtown and if you had gone a block or two the other direction you would hit Pazzo's. If you headed to Memorial you eventually hit Woodland (where the riots are when UK wins NCAA's) and if you kept going you will eventually hit Chevy Chase which have some very nice watering holes.
As somebody stated earlier, Lexington has a MSA of 500,000 people so you really have to plan. You really want to hit the local spots with local owners. The chain places with corporate owners are pretty lame.

Tin Roof and Two Keys are cheap college bars across the street from dorms. Cheese Grits is right, Tin Roof used to be a Huddle House. College bar scene is pretty depressing after home team loses a game...
Not sure if OP is a MSU alumni or still in school, but I went back to Lex for UK vs USC game and it was crazy downtown. Did the triple-header: Keeneland, watched UK beat Spurrier, and then went out partying all night!
OP should probably read about cities he visits or be nice to locals and ask for information? When you say we have bad comebacks, etc.; it sounds like were being an arrogant drunkard and running your mouth...

Goshen's was the perfect Kentucky and Keeneland bar but new ownership and Gardenside becoming Little Mexico changed all that. Several good Irish Bars in town and the european lads in town for the horses draw attractive women like magnets. Spiders was a good place after the Daily Double but not sure if it still is around.

used to go to UK
their students try way way way too hard to be "southern"
they don't know anything about football.
Went to the 2010 au/uk game and an older gentlemen called the police to try to get me kicked out of my seat. Said my ticket was fake
overall, kentucky football is a joke and the school blows during football season.
Basketball is a whole different animal though.

Haha, you probably did have fake tickets
2010 Auburn 37 @ Kentucky 34 : 70,776 attendance (67,500 is capacity)
Auburn had Cam Newton, Kentucky had Joker - still only able to squeak out the win
2109 Kentucky 21 @ Auburn 14 : 86,217 attendance (87,500 capacity)
Auburn lost at home when UK still had PawPaw and his maters.

You seemed to have been a loner then, as plenty to do in the area in the fall including football.

Sounds like you never did the run as you seem so jaded

Auburn students = common rednecks trying to act like they come from money. The result is hilarious.
