If Gurley were to come back

I know, I know.....not another Gurley thread. However, it's an off week, so I got to thinking.....
What if Gurley comes back and averages 150 yards per game and 1.5 TDs? That would put him over 1500 yards and 15 TDs.
Obviously the stats would be there for him to win the Heisman, but do you think voters would not vote for him because of the trouble? Regardless of what outcomes there is in this case?
I believe they would vote him in.

I doubt it. He missed the opportunity.....UNLESS Georgia somehow managed to win the Playoff. The voters love QB's. They would give it to Mariota, probably.

It's going to be tough for Gurley to get back into the race unless he puts up Barry Sanders type numbers and we go to the playoff. I don't think 150 YPG would be enough for him to catch back up with the rest of the Heisman leaders.

Absolutely. If we win and he dominates, he will be right back in the conversation. Especially is miss st drops a couple games as well as Oregon.

Incoming curveball. Let's say Gurley doesn't come back and Chubb averages 150 yds / 1.5 TDs per game from here on out and we win the Natty.
Chubb finishes at 1769 rush yards and 17 TDs. Then what?

I'm on the fence. If he just missed 1 game, I'd say EASILY. 2 games and it gets iffy.
If we win out and win the SEC and he continues on the pace he has been, I think the voters will have a lot to think about. They damn sure don't want to vote for winston. We'd have a better resume than oregon/mariota. We'd have likely beaten prescott the week before voting.

Barring some insanity happening, Gurley has lost his shot at winning the Heisman, imo.
I think if he does come back for Florida and has at least as good as season as the first half, then he and Richt could get invited to the ceremony in new york. But, he won't really be in the hunt to actually win it.
This would still be a major victory for UGA though.
I think a lot of Georgia fans are understandably only focusing on when Gurley will be back, so maybe they don't fully realize it........but the University of Georgia is coming off looking pretty immaculate through all of this. As Florida State gets smeared with shite, we are getting put up on an even higher pedestal. We're the way it should be in a lot of eyes. Richt and the University of Georgia are the gold standard on these matters right now. Not to mention, we benefit from people's sympathy for suffering under what is universally regarded as a bullshite ridiculous rule.

I think the people saying no are forgetting how wide open this heisman race is. They're gonna try to give the award to Dak or Mariota but if their teams slip up, they won't. If Gurley carries us past AU and our remaining schedule, and shows out in the SECCG with the country watching he will get a lot of votes.

It really just depends on what everyone else does. If Prescott or Mariota win out and put up big numbers while doing so it would be hard to pass them. I think Melvin Gordon is also a good possibility so we will have to watch his play as well.

Considering the tPOS, Jameis Winston just won it last season, anything is possible.
