Personally, I would advise against that.

It would take you 15-20 minutes to walk sober.

Walk all the way down Broadway North, then Right on President Clinton.

I've walked several times downtown late at night. Just don't go where cars don't go. There are a few opportunists that come along ready to mug folks, but they usually stick around in parking lots, and many don't stay up late. The only people still around at 3 am are cops and homeless. Just stick on your main roads and you'll be fine. Park over at the Clinton library if you can swing it - it's watched really well. That said, everything around it is kind of sketchy, because you get into more industrial/residential mix.

If I was going to avoid anywhere on foot downtown, it'd be over by the salvation army, which is still only a three or four blocks from the police station. It's usually pretty benign, but the city just cleared a few homeless camps near the train tracks, and there's a weird war for turf among the homeless. Of course, once you get in that area, you've got Capitol police driving by fairly often too.

LaQuinta it will take you to the River Market vinos and white water tavern I checked. What you should do is get your bros to park in the parking garage behind LaQuinta, get in with your key, take the shuttle to the game, get white girl wasted, profit.
