This. He's ond of the best running QBs in college football. Amazing how fast you forget how bad he sliced up LSU just a week ago.

CAP just isn't explosive enough to run through the very small holes out offensive line is opening this year.
We need more Roc.

With the way we're struggling on O-line I couldn't imagine Johnson being nearly as effective in conference play.
That's the rub. It's somewhat similar to where I think Alabama is with Sims. Neither team's line is playing well enough to afford the option of benching the guy with good/great escapability to try a QB that might prove to be a more effective passer.

Of course. That's Football 101: bench the starting QB when the team loses a game.

Fortunately, I don't think we've reached lsu fan level of angst regarding our 2 QB's so that's something to be grateful for

Id fire the coach. What a joke.

yeah I dont see what the big stir is about Marshall. without him we dont have a running game at all. he has a strong arm and is plenty accurate enough. between the oline pass blocking like a revolving door and our receivers playing like they are owned by Vegas wtf do people expect from him? if he could run down & catch his own passes maybe people would lay off? tell you one thing, if everyone on our team laid it on the line every play like Marshall we would be ridiculously good. that is all

Isn't Marshall something like 16-3 as a starter?
Posted on 10/13/14 at 10:29 am to undecided
Marshall didn't exactly crumble in the clutch Saturday. Chris Jones knocked that ball out of his hand to cause the INT. Not much you can do about the DL making a great play.

right, we go from 3-9 to a QB who is 16-3 and we are still bitching. the poster who commenting we are looking more like gumps by the minute may not have been too far off.

No. Marshall is a threat whenever he touches the ball.

both of his picks were on tipped passes... NM accounted for 309 of our 440 yards of offense.
the people who are wanting JJ over marshall are really showing their idiocy, imo.

Non-Barners: Would You Bench Nick Marshall for Jeremy Johnson
For the 2014 offense, Jeremy Johnson would probably be the better fit. We have so many weapons out wide on offense. Sammie Coates, Duke Williams, CJ Uzomah, RiCardo Louis, Melvin Ray, Quan Bray and so forth... Jeremy Johnson would sling the ball all over the yard like we saw against a much improved Arkansas defense. We would almost definitely pass for over 300 yards every game and Jeremy Johnson would likely be in the Heisman race.
For the 2013 and 2015 Auburn offenses, Nick Marshall would fit best. Not quite as many weapons outside, high quality running backs and stellar offensive line play. Nick Marshall was the perfect fit for the 2013 offense and he was surrounded by so many players that he could mesh his abilities with.
However, with all of that being said, Nick Marshall has only lost 3 games as Auburn's starting quarterback and he lead us to both the National and SEC Championship last year. He's extremely clutch at the end of the game and he's trusted by the staff. You cannot replace him right now. You don't try to fix what isn't broken. He's been so much better than any opposing fans care to admit. He has a cannon for an arm, improved passing and is one of the fastest players in the SEC.

if we had a RB who was a threat and better oline play maybe JJ would be better. we dont have that.

quote:Yeah, every interception he has thrown this year has been somehow tipped at the line. It's not like he made a bad throw, misread the defense or choked...

His first throw of the game against Mississippi State was a great read and Duke Williams was wide open. Sadly, the ball was tipped at the line and it lead to the interception.

quote:We do, his name is Racean Thomas, and he needs to get the ball more. Cam Artis-Payne is a quality back, but he is nothing spectacular. And by no means am I saying we need to replace him... We just need to get other guys involved.
if we had a RB who was a threat

There were definitely a few plays that Marshall made where you just had to give it up to him. I wasn't even mad...nothing you can do about it.

Only Auburn fans that don't understand the game of football believe JJ should be playing.
NM was hurried 13 times Saturday. JJ would have been sacked 7 or 8 times. The problem isn't the QB, he is clutch and puts a ton of pressure on a defense. JJ may be great in the future, but we better find a way to run the ball with him at QB or we'll be 7-4 like A&M.
