Coates is probably the most overrated player in the conference. Great athlete, meh football player.

He's been injured so I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt for now

This is the issue I have with college football and only a 4 team playoff - the absolute importance of each game.

In the pros, if your QB has a sub-par game (ala Russell Wilson last night), you don't start talking about the backup playing the next week. You just can't be perfect week in and week out. No one can.

Dak Prescott had plenty of issues last week, Auburn just made a ton of mistakes and did not capitalize. Marshall is a very good college QB, he really is. Leave it at that.

Again, Nick Marshall is the least of our worries

I think JJ has looked really good in his opportunities. But I haven't seen enough of both to make a good decision.

As for the pressure on Marshall, could it be that teams are scheming for more pressure because they are daring him to throw?

Ya any AU fans calling for Nick to be benched are dumb. Kid played his heart out yesterday and if he had any help around him we might actually pull out the W. Johnson will be a great QB when his time comes but switching QB won't solve the problem of inconsistent OL play or lack of effort by Coates at WR. I honestly wish we would run the read option more and let Nick make more plays on the ground instead of just running CAP into a mass of people on 1st down every time we enter the redzone

This. What Auburn was missing was the dominant OL blocking they had from last season against a darn good MSU front 7.

No. Nick didn't lose us the game against MSU. We played sloppy, got unlucky with a couple of unfortunate TOs for TDs early, and couldn't ever get it going enough.

For the most part, NM held his own against MSU. Red zone stuff is obviously an issue, but it's not like he was overmatched, we simply played sloppy as a team against a good team in their house. shite happens.

The one caveat is that I'd be willing to play JJ in game where we needed to go all in on the passing game. That was close to the case on Saturday, but at multiple points I think most folks thought it was still a winnable game for Auburn (we just couldn't keep any momentum). I don't want to play 2 QBs, but if we had handed MSU those 14 points in 3Q instead of the first, I'd understand giving JJ some work in that spot.

Only if you want to be the best 4 loss team in the country.

Going back to his time with Chizik, Gus can be so stubborn with his play calling at times it infuriates me

As much as may hate to hear it, I think Gus is still learning a little bit about being a college HC.

This is likely true but it was also expected to be the case this year and I've been disappointed in our ability to counteract this. I think if we were running the ball more effectively it wouldn't be as much of an issue.

We have a bye week to figure things out. I hope we can find a good rotation for the O-line and maybe get some of our other receivers involved like Melvin Ray and Marcus Davis.

Kind of like both of Bo Wallace's early touchdowns agains Aggie?

NM is a stud. He is not Aubie's problem.

i don't think there's any doubt... he's yet to complete his 3rd full season as a college HC, 2nd at the power 5 level.

Y'all really miss Prosch, and CAP is not in the same league as Mason at RB. I actually think Grant is a better option than CAP from what I've seen this year.

This. He's ond of the best running QBs in college football. Amazing how fast you forget how bad he sliced up LSU just a week ago.
