Could be true, my office had a couple of dudes move from Philly and NYC respectively and they had no idea Texas A&M was a school but they loved JFF and went to sports bar to watch games with me last season
Just saying each article claims to use "Facebook Likes" as a data point yet both came up with completely different results.

Looking at some of the mountain areas of Tennessee you can tell a ton of Floridians have retired there, UF is the 3rd most liked team on the entire border. If I had to guess, UF is probably in the top 5 in similar NC areas.
