Soooo, Fire Richt for not arguing enough with the officials and getting them to change the call on the field? Or fire him for not "locking" down the boarders? Or for losing to other top teams in the country on the road?

USCe is one of the top teams in the country?
WTF? They lost at HOME by 24 pts (game really wasn't that close) to a team that was picked to finish 3rd or 4th in SECw.

Based on CMR's comment, it comes down to if it has a reasonable chance of being caught
So, the ref has to imagine where the ball might go if it were not deflected and make a judgment call as to whether or not it would be catchable if it were never hit??
Makes no sense at all. Should be like PI... once the ball is tipped, all bets are off.

If a team loses by 3 points but had 7 points taken off the board, than any person with reasonable math skills will conclude that is the reason they lost the game.

I don't care what the officials say...the grounding call was wrong.
There was a receiver in the area.

I don't see anywhere on this thread where he suggested Richt should be fired.

I told you guys the refs cheated.
Now, they admitted it.
When I told you they cheated, most of you all hurled your idiotic insults at me.
You guys are a bunch of masochists who would rather act as if the dawgs lost 38-0 instead of what really happened...they got ripped off unfairly in a road game.
SERENITY NOW!

Really?! Reverse those two calls and we're having conversations on how the Dawgs will run the table.
bullshite. We lost cause our fricking defense couldn't stop a dickless guy from fricking...thats why. We gave up 38 fricking points...to Dylan fricking Thompson. Those calls, while questionable, are aprt of every game. Had we held them to 14 or frick even 21...it wouldn't have mattered.

So you're saying if we put the 7 pts back on the board from Gurley's run, and possibly score on first-and-goal, we still lose because of D? I'm not following that logic.

It doesn't work that way. You can't just say "well if we scored there, and made those 2 field goals, and scored there...we'd have won by 20!!"
Every single play alters the game. If Gurley had scored on that TD run, SC would have then adjusted their gameplan based on the score, the momentum, time left, etc.

And this is exactly why I hate officials and don't trust the majority of them. They can easily change a game outcome.
(which is why I was concerned after the first week of 'high' tackles against the QB of Clemson)

The calls sucked...nobody will argue that. But to bitch about them is silly...like I said, you wanna bitch abt something...how bout the total and utter domination of our defense by USCe? Thats why we lost.

Danke Kapitan Offensichtlich. I don't think anyone said that. We lost by 3. In a game that close any score changes the game. It's illogical, IMHO, to say that those two TDs, or a TD and FG, wouldn't make a very big difference in the outcome. Didn't happen. Maybe those two calls will be in official's minds in later games. Let's move on.

Honestly, even if we would have scored there, since we are playing "what-ifs"...South Carolina would have had plenty of time to run/throw it down our throats with 4 minutes left in the game...We couldn't fricking stop them. IMO...we still would have lost.

Exactly. There is simply no possible way to figure out how the game would have gone if the calls had been different.
Best scenario. Forget it. It's over. Doesn't matter. Goes as a "W" for South carolina and an "L" for Georgia. We just come off as a bunch of whiney little girls to run around saying we should have won. We didn't.

So we actually won 41-38?
I hesitate to say 42-38 because I'm betting Morgan shanks it.
So we potentially SHOULDA won 48-38. That's counting Gurley's negated TD run which includes the assumption MM makes the PAT and both field goals. One could argue that we COULDA won 55-38, assuming we score a TD from the 4 yard line and MM makes the PAT.
But you know what the they say about IFs and BUTs.....

No. I am saying there is no way to tell what would have happened the rest of the game. Now way to say we would have won or lost had the correct calls been amde, so we should move on.
If ifs and buts were candy and nuts we would all have a Merry Christmas?

These other posters don't enjoy the benefits of having reasonable math skills.

Uhhhhh, did you see the 4th and inches on their last possession? Don't be so pessimistic. Doesn't matter either way. Game's in the books. Maybe the Dawgs will learn from it.
