Homosexuality as an evolutionary adaptation similar to viral remission? Very interesting and could probably get a NSF grant.

That would have only a small effect. While gay men would not feel the current pressure to marry women and reproduce with them, they still want to be parents. Gay women do, too. Liberated gays and lesbians tend to share sperm and ova to get the children they want.
