Upshaw has averaged about 3 tackles a game during his NFL career. If everybody in Baltimore loves him, their standards obviously aren't very high

Upshaw valuable piece to the Ravens' D

quote:

Everybody thought Lewis was the one making the calls to adjust the defense in Super Bowl XLVII and beyond. Nope – it was Upshaw.

quote:

When Ravens fullback Kyle Juszczyk was asked which teammate he least likes to block one-on-one, he had no hesitation.

“Courtney Upshaw,” he said. “The man is massive. By far, I think he’s the toughest guy to block on our defense.”

quote:

“He’s as physical as any player I’ve ever coached,” Monachino said. “There are a lot of guys that can smash into guys. Courtney doesn’t have to smash into guys to be physically dominant. He is strong, he is explosive in a small space, and he is so technical that it becomes easy for him.”

I could have sworn that Bama sent more than 3 players to the league.

hate to say it but some fanbases really do hope Bama players play badly so they can run here and post about it. meanwhile their team's best players during college are riding the bench in the NFL.

Look up the LBs drafted before Upshaw. He has had a better career that most of them.

Upshaw is overlooked in the Ravens defense by fans and the media
You left off this part of the article. He is overlooked by the media and fans because his stats are so miniscule

As far as coaches and other players saying positive things about him, who cares? I doubt there are many of their own players they would say negative things about. After all, this is an organization who defended Ray Rice actions for months until they just couldn't defend him any longer

Oh yeah, Eddie Lacy had 34 yards on 12 carries in his first game this year. Well on his way to proving last year was just a fluke

Tom Brady had a QBR of 69 last week. BUST!

Upshaw is a good NFL player, period. Quit being a douche for once.

Carpenter is sorta a bust. A 1st round Tackle getting moved to guard normally isn't because he was good.

Haha was pretty mediocre against Seattle.

Eddie Lacy is good. Solid back in a good system.

Bama NFL starters off the top of my head:

Demeco Ryans
Evan Mathis
Roman Harper
Jarrett Johnson
Mark Ingram
Mark Barron
Julio Jones
Marcell Dareus
DJ Fluker
Chance Warmack
Andre Smith
Wallace Gilberry
Dre Kirkpatrick
Dee Milliner
Rashad Johnson
Rolando McClain
Mike Johnson
James Carpenter
Josh Chapman
Ha Ha Clinton-Dix
CJ Mosley
Quinton Dial
Eddie Lacy
Trent Richardson
Dont'a Hightower
Courtney Upshaw
Carson Tinker

I'll take it. Some haven't lived up to their college reputations, but to be a starter in the NFL is impressive. There are only 800 starters in the NFL (11 on O, 11 on D, 3 specialists/team X 32 teams).

You realize that in nfl schemes some guys jobs are to take up blocks or move a play to a certain side to free up other guys. Upshaw is considered to be such a valuable piece bc he does this really well.

This was you a couple of days ago about Nick Fairley.

Now you say this.
