I am very much against this

You should be since TCU would be stuck at 5-7 perpetually

I wouldn't be completely against it because the boring arse cup cakes would be gone.
There are teams outside the Power 5 that are better than some of the teams in the Power 5. Indiana, Washington St, Colorado, Purdue, Kansas would become the new boring arse cupcakes.

In fact it looks like all of the yes votes from the SEC are coaches that routinely buy 3 cupcake games. Voting is easier than doing, I guess.
i don't care for the cupcake games either...but these schools make millions playing teams like bama, LSU, etc. their athletic department depends on that money

I think that's the very definition of a hypocrite.

disagree
Saban wants all teams to play power5, he is not a hypocrite because he doesn't schedule only power5 teams.

It's the only way playoffs make sense. Everybody playing a schedule of technically equal difficulty.
With conferences at 12+ teams not even conference schedules are balanced, how could you possibly balance non conference schedules?

I'm all for eliminating every cupcake games. However, the SEC will need to move to a 9 game schedule to make this work.

As a fan, it seems like a good idea on paper.
Institutionally, it's a bad deal for those "cupcakes" who go into BDS, Kyle, DV, etc and get their heads handed to them. Those big paydays fund entire athletic budgets.

Long term what they need to do:
8 team playoff.
Move to 11 games from 12.
Everyone has 9 conference games, and other two are against power 5 teams.

They would not be able to survive
And several non P5 teams are better than P5 teams. It's not fair to programs who are on the rise like UCF, programs with a lot of potential to become much bigger like UNLV or New Mexico, or traditional non P5 powers like Boise State.

Those are all "power 5" teams. Got me thinking about Maryland and Rutgers joining the BIG 10 July 1st and starting play this Fall. I'd say TAMU and Mizzou were much better additions to a Conference. The B1G already had a team from Pennsylvannia, and who cares about Maryland sports?
Adding them was all about big10 network.

yep what I said basically.
Also if this does happen 2 other dominoes I believe will fall as well. First some of these other teams that are not in the power 5 from the American or whatever conference will be. We will go to 8 game playoff and each power conference will eventually be 14 or 16 teams. Right now we have 64 teams among the power 5 but if everyone went to 14 we could add 6 more and if we go up to 16 we could add 16 more teams. The second domino would be a 2nd tier playoff system in place with guaranteed payouts from TV contracts(ESPN)and post season play. Basically compensating for lost revenue from not playing the big teams and a viable option for playing post season.

It also had a lot to do with the additional 1 billion annually in funding they will all receive now for their CIC. A little bit more than the B1G network.

I like the 11 game idea. But if your going to have a playoff take the top four of each conference for a 20 team playoff. Start the playoff when the traditional crappy bowl season starts.

Why would you care, you do not have time to watch or follow college football.

Might as well just split the division to get down to about 64.

a 20 team playoff ruins the regular season.
Imo we should have kept the bcs system and went off bcs rankings. Just add a plus one game. Any given year about only 4 teams are truly worthy of a nc. The perfect system would be a rotating one that handles situations from year to year but that would provide too much uncertainty for host sites.
